the french use the AASM Hammer.
Sure there are some differences. But the majority of it overlaps
Yes, it is a deliberate choice by the developers because they had apparently faced the same issue with the Harrier GR7 where bugs occurred when trying to use two different optics even though sources state both can be used at the same time.
Rafale is not capable of utilizing two different optical sensors // Gaijin.net // Issues
Spoiler
The AAMs overlap, sometimes (1).
The air to ground has some overlap (2?), most notably for the 2k strike platforms (4?).
But for the most part, France prefers the AASM hammer as it aligns with how they use the platforms.
Yes, although the report should be submitted as a suggestion and devs should fix the bugs or find a work-around rather than ditching the effort completely.
Edit: The report is discussing the Rafale’s optronics bug.
Rafale thread?
It better be (compare to the Rafale-aesa). Germany version being tested just this year. But its not better than other thing in the world. Its just a GaAs radar after all. That tech its already 15 years old. Lets hope that in 5 years for that UK GaN version the tech don’t have move on to other tech.
I had suggested this to one of the tech mods but I’m not sure if that solution was ever communicated to the devs. I think it would still be nice to have two different targeting pods as you can keep the FSO slaved to an aerial target and potentially guide a MICA IR at long range to them in the future while slaving the Damocles to a ground target lazing them. That would be nice to do.
But I’ll try and annoy Gunjob/Smin about it.
This thread is for the Rafale. Off topic conversations should go to PM or a different thread.
What is happening ?! Are some people coordinating to nuke every messages ?
What did happen there ? It’s because it’s first april ?
There is no way this go this off topic xd.
OMG, What the hell happens here?
why the hell so many flagged posts XD did people post sikrit dokuments or smth?
they were talking about head tracking for sim
Looks like the usual EFT team on the Rafale thread
Nice assumption, anything to back up that claim?
It is not like Airbus or Bae can’t get the technology for the IR MAWS as Germany and France are working to gether on a stealth fighter (forgot the project name) and technology transfers are very much a thing.
Instead of assuming it has to be bad, because it is on the EF consider the following:
More sensors are better for data fusion, aren’t they?
Iam also pretty sure you would glaze a hybrid MAWs if it were on the Rafale instead of the EF, because it would improve data fusion.
Is it just the perspective or are the canards larger than they usually are?
Can’t you see the numerous warning signs above?
Canards are not small from start, i think the perspective don’t help
