You do know the typhoon has AESA MAWS right?
To my understanding there’s nothing confirming this.
Also, it would be weird for EFT to have AESA maws before it has an AESA main radar. It is typically far easier to make and produce larger AESA radars than miniaturized AESA radars fitted across the airframe, especially doing this all in the early 90’s when practically no one had AESA radars at all yet.
Why? The harrier IIs have had a PD MAWS since the 1980s. Why would the typhoon have a weaker MAWS just for the sake of it.
Also, not really. The company that made the CAPTOR-M/E had their first AESA “main” radar enter service in 2002 in the form of the Seaspray and the Typhoon was outfitted with a prototype AESA in 2008 iirc called CEASER. The technology is there and has been for years. The decision to wait for the technology to mature sufficiently has nothing to do with the ability to manufactor aesa radars
It could be a stronger PD radar. But it is not feasible for any nation to have had AESA maws in the 90’s. It’s just not possible. Keep in mind AESA radars didn’t exist on fighters at the time either, with F-2 and F-15 being the first application of fighter aircraft’s.
It is harder to make smaller AESA antennas than bigger ones, similar to how older technologies were much bigger to newer technologies.
If the technology of main AESA aircraft radars required more maturation, then miniaturized smaller AESAs would definitely need more maturation.
It is why every country has AESA radars on their aircrafts before they can even miniaturize it and mount AESA radars on their missiles.
EF had AESA jammers
Source?
If you give me some time, sure.
When was this achieved? Or was it upgraded to AESA? Rafale did not have AESA jammers until 2010+ after the AESA RBE2 had been mounted.
Whenever jammers were instaleld in the left pod
It’s not AESA. It’s a commonly known fact that it uses quantum entanglement to see in the future to see if the plane got hit by a missile.
Proof : about as much as the argument it uses AESA
Do you mean the Rafale?
Can this not turn into yet another vs between the 2 its really getting old (and dont start with the they said this they said that)
The MAW of the EFT, duh
It is not ? It’s just about as far as i get there is no proof that the eurofighter have an aesa maws, nothing else and people are discussing about it.
There will always have some comparison between planes otherwise it doesn’t go too far especially compared to what happened in the eurofighter thread, probably only thing that i have against it is that we are on the wrong thread but well it happens.
Nah it had AESA MAWS. Nothing else would have fitted. I dont get why French mains believe the EFT was so bad. It was on-par or even superior to the Rafale in all respects
These arguments tend to get out of hand very quickly in any thread tbh
Should be around 2001
And this here should be proof enough.
