Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

And how many planes can carry them ? Top tier doesn’t exist in a vacuum, there’s a whole BR spread below them.

Well, all planes carrying BOL carry a type of countermeasure to these missiles, assuming BOL is updated to be modeled properly. So that’s a fair number, more if they spread BOL to all aircraft that can carry it. We’d have to ask someone familiar with Russian systems if they’ve an equivalent. And there are other systems I lack the familiarity with (or awakeness) to comment on.

Russian planes barely have an equivalent missile m8… they dont get into IIR seekers until the R-74M2 iirc.

And btw, for those saying theyd be modelled as seeker suspension + FOV reduction, we alreqdy have a missile for fixed wing jets that does that in the game files (Python 4) and its not IIR irl, so gaijin would either be massively nerfing all future western IR missiles, or Russia just wont really have anything to compete going forward.

I am referring to the countermeasures, not the missiles. If you’ve information on the CMs, feel free to pitch in. Otherwise, not much point in responding with comments on ordnance.

What are the capabilities of the MICA IR?

My point was generally that they’ve barely scratched the surface of producing missile seekers equivalent to those seen in widescale service 20+ years ago, so I have my doubts they have advanced “smart” flares like BOL and the likes as well…

Id be happy to be proven wrong tho, since REDFOR is easier to find games for in sim.

One “error” (or poorly worded section) is the “max lock angle before launch” stated to be 120°. Its 120° total, ±60° is the actual angle off centerline.

It’s basically a MICA EM with a bit lower range (or about the range of the missile in game), and a infrared imaging seeker (so the same as the Spike, PGM… seeker tech wise), which is, at least in game, not defeat able as of now

In the files it’s modeled as 0.1 Gatewidth which is also very very deadly

So it would basically be a death sentence as it currently stands?

What line does everyone think the rafale will be under because i have had this question for awhile for me it would makes sense to put it under the mirage 4000 considering it was primarily designed off of it

Possibly behind it, and if rafale m is added must be jaguar/ super etendard line after rmv in my opinion.

Mirage 4000 line seems to be mostly a Naval Fighter line, If i had to guess I’d say the Rafale C will be under the Mirage 2000-5F, Rafale M under the Mirage 4000 and Rafale B under the Mirage 2000D RMV.

There is only the crusader that is a naval aicraft in mirage 4k line except for low tier so better naval line is with all the etendard for me it would make more sense.

Honestly they should unmix stuff and put all naval aicraft under the same line.

Well the F-8E is still a Naval Fighter, the etendards are Naval Strike aircrafts. I think there’s definitely a chance that the Rafale M comes in the Etendard line, like 50/50. Altough this line seems to be used for Strike Aircrafts rather than Naval ones. Until gaijin manages to make a “Multirole” line there’s always gonna be doubt on that…
If the Rafale M comes in the Etendard line then the Rafale B would be after the Mirage F1CT? I guess we’ll have to see.

I’m thankful for everyone’s opinions on this situation because i got the mirage 4k awhile back in june and enjoy the aircraft even though it was missing most of it’s air to air armaments but i was going to get more opinions on the matter to see if i needed to start grinding france again

Considering this is the only line I didn’t grind I really REALLY hope the Rafale M isn’t placed here xD

Rafale C is probably be being the 5F.
Rafale M either being the 4000 or the RMV

I think they’ll keep the variants more dedicated for ground strike after the RMV.

The naval Rafale is more probably after the M4000 since it’s in the continuity of the Crusader, and the tech tree is a bit empty after the 4000.

What variant would be dedicated for ground strike tho ? Nothing in French service. It’s all rafale beyond that point, which are air/multirole. Maybe a Mirage 2000 9 or 5 mk2, if they ever decide to remove CAS from the 5F.
BENELUX is also on its own line so even future f35 is not going after RMV.

Any 2 seat Rafale would work in that line, but probably the F3 2-seater.
