Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance - Part 2

For F.3R is hard to tell, for F.4.1 it was less than a year iirc, from first serial sample for testing until service.

would it be the c or b model, idk if they recieved any c models yet (though they are on order)
We do know they got b models though

Iirc three B models where delivered at least 1 or 2 C models are ready for delivery.

iirc, F3R flight testing started circa 2013 and entered service around 2017-2019 or something ? Tho the upgrades over the regular F3 were greater than between the F3R and F4

Yea, very first system tests started somewhere in 2012 / 2013, with service introduction in 2018 iirc.

But as you also mentioned, the upgrades were excessive, but also contained preperation for F.4 already.

yeah, F3R brought lot of new systems (AESA, new missile integration…), while it seems that aside from some antenna changes and SPECTRA upgrade, the F4 is mainly about software upgrades

Yea F.4.1 is mainly Software, but also a brand new IRST and larger MFDs for the cockpit - which is still rather plug-n-play though.

On one hand I agree.on the other hand…watching Rafale mains die to Rafale is peak humor.

Alright that makes sense. Also, moving to another topic but I just reread the topic and I noticed this

But from what I remembered the Rafale N was supposed to be, indeed, missile-only, but additionally to be a twin seater for the Aéronavale? Or am I completely mixing stuff up?

Don’t quite remember it myself either.

Ik it’s not a turstworthy source but this is my first find Dassault Rafale N
Also this https://omnirole-rafale.com/vers-un-rafale-marine-biplace/
Nothing primary but it suggests something

While not primary, I’ve found that 99% of their informations are correct. You can also see the list of their sources and its extensive. I usually trust them on trivia knowledge even if it’s obviously not usable for reports

Yeah I’ve never read anything wrong (that I knew of) from them, so I tend to trust them for trivia stuff as well.
I also don’t see how they could be wrong on that type of info, you just can’t make that up
