Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance - Part 2

iirc, I’d seen Dassault themselves claim the Rafale have variable geometry intakes, granted i’ve never been able to figure out how.

My guess is it has something to do with the weird cutout inside the intake seen here:

but idk if it works via blowing air, into it, or has a moving part that enters the airflow or something.

I also can’t find that claim from dassault anymore, so mountain of salt with that

Interesting. But even with that, it would still be worse than a sharper intake with moving parts like EFT.

Even F-22’s caret intakes with no moving parts are better

The max distance is supposed to be after already including terminal maneuvers.

So in total what needs to be reported:

  • Max speed
  • Burntime
  • Missing terminal maneuvers
  • Supersonic dive capability
  • Missing mechanism for delayed engine activation
  • Time-to-target performance
  • Lower peaking altitude from 200m to 30m
  • Higher terminal altitude from 1.5m to 3m
  • Missing proxy fuze (for targets such as small boats)
  • Reducing the explosive mass

with high altitude trajectory?

is this the rocket or turbojet powered one

MBDA doesnt say that

IIRC air variants do not have any turbojet engines, only rocket.

The public brochures might not.

what does say 70km is with terminal maneuvers. are they the typical switch to full sea skimming/popup or actual evasive manuevers?

Actual evasive maneuvers, and they didn’t say it outright in that language, but it’s a firing scenario where it does seem like they fired it at a long distance, it took terminal maneuvers and did it in a relatively short amount of time.

can you send a picture of the scenario? id like to see how it stacks up against AGM-84D and H

first variant of Exocet had terminal maneuvers ?

Issue is, Gaijin does not seem to specify the version they are adding, so we don’t know if it’s legacy or B2 Mod 2

As for everything speed related (Supersonic dive, time-to-target, max speed) it remains to be seen if the 0.9 is simply not a stat card data.
Harpoon is also listed as M0.9 but goes somewhat slower (0.85) during its cruise phase, which is afaik how it should behave

They did in the files atleast, it explicitly says Block 2 variant.

This I’m not sure about, I only have confirmation of it for Block 2 variants.

Unfortunately seems like the explosive mass of Exocet is overperforming, should be no bigger than 50kg of pbx, gotta add that to the list of things to do.

@Macron-Spokesman Or anyone else - can you tell me if the instructor bug has been fixed in the latest version of the Dev server?

With the latest update, you’re able to pull more, but it doesn’t feel like you could pull as much as you do on live, it is still reduced.

This is just based on “feel”, but in a situation where you’d pull 16G on live, you’ll be able to pull 13-14Gs on dev now compared to yesterday where it was 10-11G.

Honestly, I’d take the current dev version over the live even if the live allowed you to pull more.

okay, I have pretty much the same impression with the J-10

This bug affects all such aircraft in roughly the same

tbf, this might or might not be a bug. Seems like the devs are changing the core logic for reading some FM files, and the current implementation might stick. Maybe it might be possible to have the FM itself change to correct some of the changes if the plane now actually underperforms (tho, this is not the case for the Rafale or Eurofighter for example)
