So I just finished watching the official Q&A video with Mr. Bulannikov, and there were 2 questions that i found interesting, those being the questions about additional map bans as well as the question about larger maps for MBT´s.
The response for the latter point (as I understood it) was that most players at high br enjoy smaller maps and the gameplay they provide. Additionally, due to the map bans, the map pool gets affected, and such larger maps can be rarer.
Wouldn’t a possible solution be a system where players can maybe cue for a single specific map, or be able to maybe choose a group of maps to cue for?
So you would perhaps select 3-5 Maps to specifically cue for while excluding all others (For example I want to play Red Desert, Pradesh, Volokolamsk and Sands of Sinai, so I select those maps and the matchmaker searches for battles specifically with those maps).
This should solve the issue of people complaining about fighting with MBT´s on small maps, and i think a lot of people (including me) would be fine with longer cue times if it means that you can play on maps that you enjoy more.
This would also make the need for additional map-bans almost nonexistent, since you can just cue for specific maps.
As for the point of making map cues longer for everyone due to the fact that some maps will just be played more than others because of this, an option could be to limit its use per day to maintain a bit of the “old” system.
Or maybe that after a certain amount of time has passed (maybe +5 minutes have passed) it will give you a notice that no match has been found and that you will now go back to the “regular” cue.
At the end of the day, some people just prefer larger maps, and It’s not quite fair that some of these really nice maps that people spent hours on making are played so little. If anyone has Ideas on how to maybe improve the idea that’s cool too :)
(Lastly if this has already been suggested before then I do apologize. I did not find anyone talking about something simmilar to this and its my first time here)
