Reread the statement:
“In the next major update, we won’t be adding a VT-4 to the Thailand sub tree. Other vehicles are planned to come to this branch in this update”
Notice how the wording is focused on “this update.”
Smin’s statement here only denied the VT-4 for the Tusk Force major update, and does not exclude it from future updates. Whether it will wait for 2.51 or later is anyone’s guess.
i know. He said it in the screenshot already
OK? You were saying that the Thai VT-4 was “cancelled,” I was pointing out that it’s likely just being held for later when the controversy dies down.
never said it was cancelled forever. So we get the abrams then the Vt4?
That’s my guess. But it is just a guess.
With all of these complaints about subtrees and what should go to where, perhaps that is a signal that subtrees were a bit of a bad idea, hm? South Africa to UK and Finland to Sweden were a bit of a stretch. Then East and West germany and ROC and PRC together were big stretches, but then India, Romania, Hungary, Thailand, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and soon Greece?? Its all way too much and Gaijin could easily make these standalone nations. They don’t need a full lineup.
how is East and West Germany a big stretch?
both literally came forth from the 3rd reich and then reunited
they formed from the same nation and became a single nation
They were literally countries at the most odds with each other as possible. The predicted frontline of the cold war. The entire identity of each country molded by the western allies and the USSR respectively. They came from the same nation. They eventually became the same nation. But one tree shouldn’t have MiG-19s supporting Leopard 1s, because that is ahistoric. You don’t understand what this game used to be and how much was stripped away from it. It may seem normal to you. but I promise, this is not how it should’ve been.
There’s plenty of ahistoric things. From reloads to vehicles being mishmashes of multiple versions, to the maps.
Also how else could you make Germany if you split east and west Germany up? Sure they may be able to hang on via ground and maybe coastal (haven’t got there in bluewater) but air is an entirely different story. That and how would you link research from Ww2/interwar Germany and to Modern Germany?
Yes they already are a part, but they are sadly barely used and they have a lot of interesting vehicles :(
Make it like the israeli tree where you unlock the DDR germany by reaching rank V with either Germany or USSR, normal Germany stays on the same tree.
That way we can get DDR vehicles with german crew without filling either the USSR or Germany trees with copy pastes, plus would allow the use of DDR decals which the USSR vehicles can’t.
That isn’t an excuse. “Other things are bad, so this bad thing doesn’t matter actually” All of that bothers me. Secondly, Just have them in different categories within the Germany line, no mishmashing allowed. No West Germany vehicles with East Germany vehicles. EZ
I can agree on the mish mash of variants but there’s a point where trying to follow realism and historical accuracy too much starts to upend enjoyment of the game and balance. Several of the subs were needed to bulk up lineups or fill in gaps. Same goes with the two Germany’s.
I mean I guess but looking at tier 5 TT, all but 2 jets are ww2 and the only east German ground vehicle at that tier is the BMP-1. Not to mention would this allow Swiss vehicles?
Also in RB, this wouldnt prevent East and West German vehicles working in tandem as long as one of each were on the same team (if I’m reading this correctly)
I feel that the need to “bulk up” lineups is a problematic solution to a problem that can be fixed by itself. Just don’t allow overstock ala "no more than two mbts or medium tanks per lineup, and one of everything else. As for the “gaps”, often they don’t need filling. Br is subjective and vehicles maybe a whole br lower than what you’re going for is more than adequate already.
Thats fine. They don’t really need more. But if you would want another, there’s the Hawker Seahawk Mk 101
T-54, T-55, ZSU-57-2, Shilka easy additions. And there is also BRDM-1 based 9P111 missile tank destroyer. All around the same br. East German Army also operated T-34-85, IS-2, SU-85, SU-100, 2S1, 2S3, and BMP-2.
Thats a different problem with its own solution, but even so, it would be much better in my mind than the lineup mishmash.
The main point is wouldn’t it be ahistoric to have ww2 jets alongside post war ground vehicles? Not to mention that if ww2 Germany cannot be used by either side, West Germany has 0 planes to as either air defence or Cas.
Some vehicles perhaps, not all. There’s also the issue of no better way to “rank” a vehicles strength as doing by manufacture date would result in several vehicles across every tree suddenly finding it to tough to cope and even if they can, would be severely outclassed by other options.
I’ll give you that, although that would probably need a TT rework but that’s long overdue due regardless.
I personally would not mind this very much. CAS isn’t the point of ground, after all, so it’d be silly to me that someone would be that upset about it.
If im reading this correctly, I would simply find a better way to rank vehicles than doing it by manufacture date. And not all vehicles would need to have a “good rank” because plenty of vehicles are very weak for their BR still. Not much would change.
IMO the whole concept of how tech trees work should be reworked, but thats something for another day.
The issue is at that tier, West Germany would not only be unable to do cas, but also to prevent it via aircraft. Now imagine fighting against nations like USSR, France, UK and USA, all able to use cas at that tier without any subtrees. West Germany would be put at a very noticeable disadvantage as it cannot utilise any aircraft while other nations can.
So we would still have the br system?
Again the point is that there’s already this much compromise for Germany, now imagine it for several other nations with different eras/factions and subtrees.
