Community Update No.8: Responses and What’s Coming!

nothing unique, just copy paste old soviet weapons

NASAM is Kongsberg, they were the first to use AMRAAM for SPAA, the US wanted a SPAA like NASAM so Raytheon and Kongsberg started a joint vehicle to give a mobile platform. Its not like im trying to saying it shouldn’t have gone to the US but it should’ve been given to both Norway and the US as they both had a hand in it

The radar, misses, and the truck are all made by American company’s and are still used in todays service idk were you think its Norwegian. Just because the United States wanted a NASAM like system doesn’t make it Norwegian, not to mention the NASAM lost to the slamramms.

The fact that Kongsberg is listed as a co developer its even on the wiki if you looked

Yes, but that doesnt make it Norwegian if Raytheon were the ones to make the system its their system.

Yes, but notice how Raytheon is the FIRST one mentioned. That means its owned by them or at least its their project.

It literally says and Kongsberg, its a joint project regardless of whos name was written first lmao.

The thing is, I’ve seen it in both the trailer and the self propelled configuration, but so far I’ve only seen self propelled launchers being able to fire without further preparations.

Of course I could be wrong about the trailers having to be properly deployed before being operational, but I am having a hard time finding info on that kind of question

Judging by the multi vehicle SAMs we have ingame, there needs to be a TADS (Target Acquisition and Designation System) vehicle and a TEL (Target Erector Launcher) vehicle and I cannot tell if the so called MEL (Mobile Erector Launcher) of the Patriot needs further preparation before operation or if it can be operated while still attached to the towing vehicle.

Raytheon got the contract, the SLAMRAAM was made by THEM.

You talking about Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia?

Yes they got the contract but the vehicle was still created via Raytheon and Kongsberg, if you can find a official source that Raytheon had no assistance from Kongsberg then please do post it.

The NASAMs is a Kongsberg design and the launcher for the SLAMRAAM on the Humvee was a co-operation between Raytheon AND Kongsberg

Ok im not denying that, but the whole “its Norwegian” is false. The UK makes the ejection seat for the F35 is the F35 British?? No… it was made and developed using a Norwegian idea for American service made by American companies.

yeah

Honestly fair, I have to do more research on the LvS 103 anyways lol

NASAMS literally stands for Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System

It was designed by a Norwegian company and built by said company in cooparation with Raytheon.
Just because the missiles and the radar are US designs doesn’t mean that the system that is using those components somehow isn’t Norwegian.

OK the NASAM is norwegian, THE SlAMRAM ISNT, IT LITTERALY SAYS DEVOLPED BY RATHEON.

How is this hard to understand…

I would say it’s quite a bit more than that

They are responsible for the ability to even fire the system and its use on a ground vehicle alongside distribution of the system itself. Kongsberg did the work to make the system into an SPAA. Neither Raytheon or Kongsberg are solely responsible as both had a hand in its creation with Raytheon suggesting the vehicle and supplying munitions.

Maybe you should try Kongsbergs site rather than wiki

Kongsberg handled the software side of the project as they needed to allow the system to be used on a Humvee, Raytheon supplied the weapons, radar ect. Raytheon got the contract in 2004 but Kongsberg and Raytheon have been partners since 1997 as a Subdeveloper of many of Raytheons tech.
