Doesnt matter what was considered. Buddies going on about Algeria being part of France as if Algerians werent seen as sub-human and treated as such. If algeria is to be introduced it should be with USSR.
Algeria has nothing to do with france now, we operate mainly Soviet style equiopemnt or chinese. France has its own stuff, doesnt need our stuff in it too.
Hey, I definitely didn’t want to seem like I was saying France considering Algerian as sub humans wasn’t a thing. This is mainly what I was considering when I said Alergia had its reasons to fight for independance, and whatever some people might say to this day in France
I am also not saying that Algeria should be a sub of France. Personally, I only would like to see the Mirage F1 that Algeria tested as a potential vehicle for France. It did not actually entered service, and is a program developed by Algeria but with the help of France.
I was just saying that, in my opinion, the comparaison with other countries situation wasn’t quite right.
But, tbf, in general, the concept of subtrees is always going to be touchy. For European nations first with the issues of colonisation in general, Asia as well. Even the USSR sub nations is touchy with the ex soviets states for example
I get what you’re saying but still i don’t agree, Algeria being “part of France” was forced and not chosen. Unlike Corsica which is French by will of the corsicans today, Algeria fought a bloody war for independence, so that’s not really the same thing at all… The parallel I drew with Poland and Korea was that the population refused foreign rule and resisted.
After independence in 1962 Algeria cut ties with French weapons and built its army almost entirely on Soviet/Russian equipment + later Chinese, South African, German etc. That’s why our doctrine, training, and gear today is way closer to Russia than France.
As for the Mirage having been tested also, I doubt it constitutes a solid argument for Algeria being in the french TT. Because Algeria also tested Tornadoes at some point (I learned this recently, to my great surprise!) and I honestly don’t see Algeria fitting the German TT for this reason either.
Also IMO about the Iranian F-14 example, yeah it looks weird but it still makes sense gameplay wise since Iran got them from the US directly back in the Shah era, that the Shah himself was a friend of the USA and they (iranian F-14s) remained American-made aircraft with American systems mostly. Algeria on the other hand doesn’t have anything french aside of Panhard armored cars.
So honestly if Algeria gets added it should ideally be as part of a united arab tree or at least in the Soviet TT as event/squadron/premium vehicles
Personally I wouldn’t mind the FSC, much more concealability along with optical and radar guidance. Maybe it could help redeem the Tracked Rapier as well lol
I guess I just have a soft spot for it, especially after you know who butchered its introduction and subsequent “fix”. The FSC would also have access to upgraded missiles, the Mk. II A for standard SPAA and the Mk. II B which believe it or not has a tandem HEAT warhead what could be used against IFV’s and other SPAA systems
