Community Update No.7: Talking About What’s Coming Soon!

So would you say it is better if the requirement is 10 kills instead of 2500SP to get a nuke?

I’ve got tired of the nuke effects after the third one. The siren is kinda cool, but these days the siren only makes me annoyed about the possibility of the game ending any second because someone possibly got fed kills by (insert bad main stereotype here)

I would say that the requirement should be tied to an actual objective rather than a single player getting x kills or SP.

By the nature of warthunder it is going to be tied to kills

Closest example I could think of are CoD kill streaks just saying:

“Enemy AC-130 above”

I mean, the requirements likely won’t be changed either way.
At most Gaijin might re-adjust the SP cost at some point, but even that seems unlikely.

See im more interested in SP for belts, as some aircraft do literally nothing without some AP in their belt.

It might be possible that we will see that

The coming SP changes are a step into the right direction

I agree but some guns definitely need their AP or default belt to do any sort of damage

I don’t think I like the SP change idea. Lower tiers is not so bad though I tend to use bombs and rockets in all or most of my planes but the issue is more for Top Tier.

Example: I hop into an A-10C with Mavericks, GBUs and rockets for ground and IR AA Missiles to defend myself. I get shot down and have say my F-15E in reserve. Because I brought IR AA Missiles in my A-10C, the cost to bring just IR missiles on the F-15E will double thus only being able to bring Radar Missiles. basically forcing me to make loadouts without certain or any AA Missiles to defend myself in either of my aircraft choices which is kinda vital in top tier. I prefer what is already implemented unless you make the AA Missiles not affected.

If anything, I feel the SP Costs for the ordinance themselves need to be changed. I always found it annoying for a single ATGM on a single Pylon to max out the SP cost. SP should be based on each weapon per pylon. Ex: x1 ATGM=200pts, x1 2k Bomb=50, etc. hopefully this makes sense.

It would be problematic tho if there wasn’t one universal rule for it

I could imagine a system that takes caliber and ammunition types into account

so the 37mm on the yak9 with aphe would cost way more SP the 20mm on a bf109

The Yak needs its SP on par with bombers lol, 40 1 hit rounds (most of the time) are more deadly than 6 bombs

If I understood it correctly that will not be the case

In your example the A-10 would fall into the Striker group because you bring A2g ordinance, so it won’t affect the SP for the IR missiles on you f15, if I understood it correctly

And with a system like I said, that would be possible to implement

We’ll see, gaijin could very well implement a bandaid which does nothing.

Im hoping im wrong but we’ll see

Well atleast they are listening to the community and make ppl unable to abuse different aircraft classes, that’s atleast something

A miniscule SP change doesn’t do anything. Again we’ll see, i expect the worst so i cant be disappointed with it more than i expected. So far it helps considering im disappointed with 90% of introductions lmao.

Yeah I’d like improvements to the effects. But to me, just experiencing a nuke is somewhat enjoyable, it’s either covering a friendly and hoping he makes it or trying to shoot down an enemy and hoping your teammates get him if your not in a jet or AA

If a teammate nukes, you get guaranteed winner bonus. If an enemy nukes, he got through your teams defenses and earned it

the F-15E is also a Strike Aircraft and so it would be affected if I brought IR missiles in the A-10 before the F-15E making the IR missile cost double for the F-15E since they are both strike aircraft.

Another example. AV-8B and A-10C. AV-8B with GPS Bombs and A-10C With Mavericks. Both with IR Missiles for defense. I get shot down in one, then the IR Missiles in the other will double in cost.

The f15 wouldn’t be affected because the ordinance will dictate its class for the sp system

So if you don’t bring any a2g ordinance on your f15 it will be regarded as a fighter

That’s probably my biggest problem with the entire mechanic. Most maps entirely remove AA from that interaction because there is no minimum altitude for the nuke drop.
In the early BR brackets that have the Jaguar and Su-7 as nuke carriers enemy planes also really aren’t a threat unless they already were in the air when the nuke spawned.

I don’t think a minimum altitude should be realistic, because if it was, it would mean that nuke planes actually don’t have a chance at higher BR

Maybe like 300m min alt at time of drop
