Just out of curiosity, why wasn’t there a dev-blog or dev-post on the first flight of the P-47 Thunderbolt on May 6th? No decal or sale or special vehicle yet we’ve had them for the Zero, the Yak, the Spitfire, and so many other aircraft. Just recently we have had…
The FFA P-16 had a whole post on its first flight anniversary on May 2nd.
The A6M5 and A6M2 had a whole post on its first flight anniversary on April 1st.
The He 219 A-7 got one on March 26th.
The German La-5FNs was also on March 26th.
Yet the P-47 didnt despite being like the second most prevalent/copy-and-pasted WW2 fighter (after the P-51, I think) there was nothing.
The AIM-9X does a 180 turn quicker than the MICA IR, R-74, Python 5, and likely the ASRAAM, and has a higher gimbal limit than the MICA IR and R-74. I do agree that it’s kind of pointless to add anything other than a Block II or III AIM-9X with the rest, and really a Block I AIM-9X should’ve been added last update or something.
Most likely yes, because ASRAAM was designed to be extremely fast off the rails. Faster you go, the larger the turning radius. But ASRAAM was designed for “shoot first, kill first” and not dogfighting
Again, really no. Unless it was added to every single current Aim-9M placeholder user, it would be a huge advantage if it was US only and just destroy top tier, just like F-16C and Mig-29SMT getting IRCCM before everyone else did
First of all, the gimbal limits of the MICA IR are probably not correct in game, although no exact sources are available to context that as of now. It will probably be lower than the AIM9X tho, but the MICA can rely on the datalink of the plane.
To be fair it’s true for most longer range missiles.
I do agree with that. The gap between the AIM9X and current missiles is probably at least as big as say between the AIM9M and the AIM9L
Also just has a precision the Magic 2 also got its IRCCM added at the same time as the two missiles arrived
That is largely based off secondary sources that probably wouldn’t be reportable. It’s great for a general comparison, but I’d not necessarily base what they’ll be like when added on that
Perhaps, but just because r73 and magic II is better in a dogfight than Aim-9M doesn’t mean that now the US can be better in dogfight with aim9x.
Also the only issue with Aim-9Ms that truly affects the current balance is their ahistorical lock ranges. With that fix, they’d be fine. I do consider them balanced though, just they have different strengths and weaknesses
Except the US (and nations with only the 9M) only have 30G IR missiles and have to use AIM-120As/Bs for dogfighting due to them having more pull, even though the MICA and R-77/-1 pull harder.
Yeah, again though. That’s just where you have to play the aircraft right.
Typhoon I stick at range as best I can rather than being dragged into a dogfight and then when they can be added. They can give everyone gen 5 IRs rather than just giving the US aim-9X b1
I’m curious to see if these new modern SPAAs will be the test bed for the more modern missiles. At least to me that makes sense before giving them over to top tier aircraft. The SLAMRAAM uses 120s and 9Xs (there’s even a more modern-ish variant that tested AMRAAM-ERs) and we know the other revealed SPAA used the IRIS-Ts.
These missile only SPAA are always meh to play. Just remember how dull gameplay is with Ozelot or Strela. Brrrr.
Probably a huge truck with IRIS T SLM launcher which ofc can’t be even used as last ditch weapon vs. ground. Its the most boring gameplay and on most of these small maps you can’t even cover it up. You get shot in no time. The Iris launcher will be very high up, sticking out on every map … players easily spot it, laser range it, and lol shot you.
