Improvements to the Preset UI in the Hangar

We’ve overhauled the preset UI in the hangar to improve the user experience and add better functionality. The current preset UX is decent but not as good as we want it to be. One fundamental issue with it is that many presets don’t fit in the line, and the line doesn’t scroll horizontally, making it difficult to see how many presets there are at a quick glance. We also found that most players name their presets by gamemode and/or Battle Rating, and when Battle Ratings change, they have to manually change the preset name.

That is a good improvement, but will we then also get more slots than the maximum of 18 that we had previously?

This is a very good tip for new players and everyone should know about it. I use this in all my lineups and never had issues with visibility. There’s way more codes, too, like specific ones for different types of planes, tanks, and ships or icons for SL grinding lineups.

Funny that the TT version came later, after the community called you out on walling a very requested production vehicle as a premium. But hey, keep that damage control going on instead of coming honest on it.

Bomber Survivability Increase: Working On It

Will this be accompanied by a general buff to airframe durability? In-game the airframes currently are very weak. Planes should be able to withstand much more damage overall – especially later jets that are increasingly made from much more durable materials.

But WW2 bomber survivability is also something that should be worked on. This video is unable to be created in-game currently.

LOL true, I just got beached on Fiji yesterday. The kill timer for running aground and for going off the edge of the map (and not being able to turn your 50 kiloton battleship around in time) have the same kill icon as J-ing out, so it might also credit other players for the kill.

For real though, has anyone ever towed anything in NF since the towing system was changed? I don’t think I’ve had it work once, but you could definitely rescue people when the mode came out.

The M103 series will be receiving a detailed model update to correct some of its inaccuracies and generally improve its overall quality.

Can Taiwan and Thailand finally get the correct M60A3 TTS model? It’s been years since the Chinese tech tree was added.

Great news on the F-14D, happy to hear that. On what TT will the greek vehicle come? Israel?

We mentioned directly that the premium F-14D would be the only version coming in the previous major update. But also made it clear we welcomed suggestions and feedback on other variants too.

Following directly from community feedback, a seperate version will be implemented this major with alternative skins from amoung some of those suggested.

he ground vehicles, air defense systems, and naval vehicles reflect the Vietnam era (or the 70’s), and are designed for aircraft in the 8.7-11.0 Battle Rating range. Guided weaponry will be minimal here. Air defense will rely on S-75 and Hawk SAM systems, while battlefield air defense will be gun-based only.

I dont see anyone mentioning how wonderful this game mode would be if helis were added to it at this BR.

Top tier helis can work in ground RB but lower tier helis still dont have much of a place. This game mode would work well for giving some helis a new lease of life (hinds, TOW armed AH1s, ATGM hueys, ect.).

These helis are a nightmare to grind out in air RB and heli PVE is a dead game mode. This would be a great place to put them so you can actually grind some of them out withlut taking years off your life from the stress of playing them in the other game modes.

Also some food for thought. If they were implemented and it works well, it’d be cool to have a SAR mechanic for helis on a large dynamic map like this for downed pilots that eject successfully. That would be a long way off of course.

I hope the bomber damage model buff gets applied only to heavy bombers. In my opinion medium bombers are very much fine, maybe even too strong in some cases (cough cough Ju 288C)

Bomber survivability will be improved based on this data, we expect that bombers will not lose control surfaces and wings during brief passes with 12.7 mm or lower caliber rounds. This work is being conducted comprehensively, with an in-depth review of the documentation.

Calling it now, the bomber bros will still think it’s not enough and they WILL post their anecdotal photos at any given chance

Adding Submodes to the Mode Drop Down in the Hangar

Currently, War Thunder has many modes and options for modes to pick from. For example, night battles is an optional setting that is slightly hidden behind menus. We want to improve on this and make sure mode options are easier to access and see in general, especially for newer players who might not know they even exist. We’ve been working on an updated menu from the hangar that makes seeing mode options easier.

Actually huge, means we may get a lot more matches with smaller teams than before

We took the time to look at these pain points and make improvements to the preset UX:

• There is now a dropdown menu on the left side (replacing the presets window) with the same functionality as before: adding, rearranging, naming and deleting presets.

Both a great change and really funny the official post has a preset named “I hate myself”

During the last major update we received a lot of feedback from the community regarding the F-14D. As a result of your feedback, we’ll add a researchable variant of the F-14D to the US aviation tree. It’ll be a direct analogue in terms of load outs and performance to the premium variant. This new version will feature some alternative skins compared to the existing F-14D, but will place a researchable version of this iconic American carrier fighter in the US research tree too.

This should be done more often. A lot of times an unique and desirable aircraft gets locked behind event/premium paywall when it would be a great addition to the tree.

For the US yes but not for Israel, they don’t fly the F-15EX. IRL they are getting the F-15IA but it’s not slated to start deliveries until around 2030 so doubtful Gaijin will add it.
