UK and Italy also have Aim-120Ds, they probably are compatible and I recall something from somewhere about Germany exploring running 2x IRIS-T + 2x Aim-120D + 4x Meteor on their Typhoons, but CBA to go looking for the source.
But they could just add C8s which would probably be modeled to be the same as Ds anyway
Yup. Buffing the C5 doesn’t get the US up to Eurofighter level, it just ensures Typhoon is also buffed while the US stays behind them while buffed as well.
“And supporting German and shared NATO planning, training, and operaional requirements.” This is vague but basically if it comes to terms that there’s not enough meteors, Germany can equip aim120d if they want to their typhoons. There’s no restriction on the typhoons for the aim120D. Its just that they’re already testing and have meteors for typhoons.
UK, Germany, and Italy will prob have to wait a couple updates before we get c8 or D, looks like Gaijin wants to add next gen missiles like meteor with 5th gen.
There still needs to be proof of integration even if it’s compatible. Usually it’s just a small software update so that the missile launch envelope from the increased missile ranges is translated to the computer, but there still has to be some form of integration even if it’s a minor one.
Eurofighter wise only Germany fields AIM-120D (it’s technically called AIM-120C-8, only for exported to countries and not the US of A) on their Eurofighters still.
Hey smin, is there any information that you can give on if the AAM-4B is coming to japan? Since its between a C and D series amraam in terms of performnace, I and others are really hoping it comes along with this patch.
