Community Update No.10: Starting The Year Off!

Will the AIM-120D drop with a meaningfully increased range?

Raytheon said the AIM-120D gets more range than the AIM-120C through software improvements. is that going to be implemented by WT missile code?

Do you have any plans to modify the AP calculation formula? I noticed that it has recently been submitted to the developers

No value no improvement

The AIM-120D in the files has GNSS in the seeker section. Only the D-3 had those.

11.0 is likely to low, probably more like 11.3-11.7 would be my initial guess.

more battery is props what it will get with GNSS

Well doesn’t have the better motor the D-3 alone has

The exact figure isn’t known, but up to Mach 4.5 is likely

Is that one removed? Didnt catch that, but surely it was recently

Yeah we can thank Indra for that one in their press for the Meteor recently;

Apart from two or three specifics, this is kinda meh. Of course some “”“QoL”“” is mentioned but the part of it where balance comes in is, as always, neglected.
I’m sure the next few updates will surprise us with more unbalanced premiums and unique vehicles behind a paywall though.

At higher-tier air battles (around BR 11.7 and up), is anything being done to address the current “Iron Dome” meta where players shoot down incoming missiles with their own? Right now, AAM radar cross-sections are way too large, which creates unnecessary radar clutter and makes missile-on-missile intercepts far more consistent than they should be. IRL it’s an unreliable tactic where you need everything to happen a specific way, but is still far too risky, and the only AAM irl that does have an effective intercept feature like this is the IRIS-T. We should at the very least have proper radar-filter options for air-to-air threats, just like ground SPAA units have had for multiple months now.

This mechanic essentially acts as a crutch. It undermines core skill-based gameplay like notching, energy management, and proper missile employment. It also heavily favors aircraft that carry large missile counts (F/A-18s, Su-30SM/SM2, F-15s). Missile quantity becomes more important than good positioning or defensive skill, and game tech knowledge.

This issue is especially noticeable in 13.0+ Enduring Confrontation sessions in Air Simulator. The gameplay loop becomes more about spamming missiles to counter other missiles than actual BVR or WVR tactics, which is pretty exhausting. After missiles are intercepted, most players are then forced to run away as they’re out of missiles and can do nothing more for their team.

Are there plans to adjust missile RCS values, improve radar filtering, or reduce the effectiveness of missile interceptions so that high-tier air combat doesn’t rapidly continue to devolve into this meta?

Not true. AIM-120D has GNSS too.

Could simply be placeholder just like the PL-15 in the files also has placeholder stats of PL-12.

Impressive. I think i should focus more on GB now

You think?

New engine? IMHO it might be based on new more powerful engine.

Thanks for this. So basically it would take roughly 3 minutes (~200 seconds?) and change for its battery to run out?

Not in the files but it should

Oh also forgot to mention the pl12a is supposed to have the pl15 engine but without the dual pulse
It has a range of 120 km

This picture is the pl12ae which is the export variant on j10ce most likely
