History.

The 132nd Armoured Division ‘Ariete’ was one of the largest and most famous armoured divisions of the Royal Army. The division participated as a reserve during the 1940 campaign in France, then was transferred to North Africa where it participated in the Battle of Bir el Gobi and was subsequently reorganised due to a lack of personnel. The Ariete participated and fought hard in many other battles, including Ain el-Gazal and both battles for El-Alamein, when in the second battle the division was destroyed and the remaining units continued to fight until the last units were disbanded in Tunisia after the events of 13 May 1943.

The decal.

In various photos of the Ariete division’s tanks (light tanks, medium tanks and even self-propelled guns), the vehicles of the aforementioned division are depicted with a badge depicting a black ram’s head positioned horizontally. The emblem is quite simple and appears to have been used by the tank crews of the unit of the same name to differentiate themselves from the tank crews of allied armoured units (such as that of the Centauro division) and to customise the vehicle.
