CM Covert Disclosures No.4: Information & Q&A with War Thunder Game Director, Viacheslav Bulannikov!

Will you use SPAA in ARB??

Higher chance of it being a Eurofighter because of leaks and all…

Germany suffers at top tier too. We don’t need to be in a suffering contest to acknowledge that both are suffering.

I honestly wonder who formatted the question to him, and how the answer was even parsed during translation. There has to be a more nuanced answer about the R-77 that we just didn’t get. Yes we all know the energy values of the R-77 and R-77-1 are virtually the same, they are not same in composition or drag values etc.

the worst thing in all this is their writing about filling gaps and in fact now with every update they forget about Ground what’s worse with the recent trend it will probably be filling them by spamming copy paste

I don’t want a tank only mode, i want them to balance the cas aspect like they have in the mid tiers, fighting cas and having cas is necessary to keep the game dynamic. If they was to add a tank only mode the focus on improving spaa would become even more forgotten as it’d no longer be needed. Cas should be a high risk high reward vehicle that you earn. Currently they’re given out like candy in top tier and are far far far more powerful than any ground counter currently available, until gaijin add vehicles to balance this problem out they should increase the spawn costs so it’s not as frequent of a problem.

@UnknownDistance
Fuel equalized to the same amount of reheat time.

Spoiler

Apparently this is slightly incorrect as Su-27 has more fuel time than the other two on minimum fuel still:

Higher fuel load:

In flight performance: Su-27 wins against both Mig-29SMT and F-15E, and Mig-29SMT barely wins against F-15E.

The primary downside of Su-27SM is no narrow search function.

Russia is in no way struggling in top tier air, in any way shape or form.

There was no contest. All of these statements are ONLY true when compared to a SINGLE tree, that is ahead of every other tree.

Considering how trash the F-4F ICE is, it’s clear you don’t play top tier air RB, lol.

No. But balancing the A2A armament of planes base on ground mode performance is not valid.

And while US planes get the AGM65, which is indeed inferior to the 38MT, they also carry more ordinance in total and carry better ARMs in a higher quantity with a full ground loadout. That’s the primary balancing factor as it stands. If SPAA is buffed to compensate for the KH38MT, how do you then make the KH38MT carriers competitive?

I have the entire German Air Tree, lol.
And you have now proved my point. Germany doesn’t have a “top tier”, and hasn’t since 2ish years ago when the Mig29G was added and then dead on the next update due to…F15/16/Su27 upgrades.
I do own and use the F4F, it is complete and utter dogs**t.
The only other option is the Mig29G, which has no ARHs, horrible fuel limit, bad radar, 6 hardpoints (compared to 8-10 on US/RUS jets)…anything else you want me to add?*
So please tell me why you think Russia would need: more planes, or buffs?

I never said it wasn’t? Every Tier VIII Russian plane is better than the ICE, LOL

Using the F4F ice as a reason not to balance other planes is weak.

Both Germany and Russia can suffer in ARB at the same time. Both can need buffs.

And to your earlier comment, you realize France, Israel, Japan all have top tier American planes, right? And that China has the J10A, which is arguably one of the top planes?

I mean just look at the nations they are using to fill in the gaps, maybe thats why. by the looks of it they are trying to burn through other nations vehicles that are not able to be independent.

When has Israel, Japan, and USA been one tree? And they’re marginally ahead of the Soviets in aviation currently.
Then you have France and China marginally behind Soviets; and generally behind Japan, USA, and Israel.

Then you have Sweden, Germany, Britain, and Italy all lacking with Germany being the most lacking cause at least Sweden, Britain, and Italy have Gripen.

Nowhere in any of my first statements did I bring up the ICE. @PestoMystic did, and I have no idea why.
Brother Russia DOES NOT suffer in Air RB! You guys are crazy if you think that!
They should look to improve the other nations, who are actually lacking in top tier air!
There’s 10+ planes in the US air, 8+ in the Russian air, 4 in the German air! Tier VIII!!
Not to mention the drastic differences between all of them, there is not a proper Gen 4 fighter in the German lineup, while there’s a dozen in US and Russia!

  1. A/G armament does not matter in ARB at all.
God forbid you going on a CAS mission in ARB. Even in the most skibidi sigma plane in the game, the F-15E you can not do CAS because you will eat at least 1 AMRAAM and 1 MICA because you tried to dodge the other 5 AMRAAM’s on their way to your exact location.
  2. In GRB you need to have a potent missile against spaa. That was my point from the start. Doesn’t matter how much you can carry if you spawn in the air 15 km’s out from the battle field and you are being fired upon by 3 S1’s and a poor ADATS trying to make its job. The Panstir can take down your whole Maverick loadout most of the time. I rarely see an ADATS intercept just one KH-38MT.

There is no glass situation! You straight up have access to the R-77s. You have the choice between which ones you want to fly, and which weapons they use. Other trees are NOT given an option and are passively forced to play a single jet.

Stop launching AGM-65s at low altitude where you’re vulnerable to SPAA to begin with.

They had one simple job, and they still managed to fail it.

how can you mix up the JDS Akebono with the French Courbet???

Sometimes i wonder how such things get the ok.
