Chinese Air-To-Air missiles, History, Performance & Discussion

There are clear changes to the radar, the implementation of the J-8H was a stop-gap in the event that the J-8F fell behind schedule. A reminder that they legitimately thought the J-8F could asymmetrically fight raptors. The change in radome is clear and the use of PL-12 is only ever seen with the later radar afaik.

Radar means nothing, as J8DH, BFs also got the same radar and look exactly alike from the outside. J8H’s only difference to J8F currently are wing fences. 3 vs 2 pairs on each wing, early J8F models have 4 per wing.

If you have something to share, please share it. Posting nonsense without some substance is not going to get us anywhere.

Look above, Baozi already posted one.

Rupprecht is not a valid source imo.

J-8F‘s 1472 radar is basiclly a improved J-8H’s 1471 radar.

I thought the 1471 radar is the one used on the J-11B and J-15

J-11B uses 1493 radar

J8F doesn’t use 1472 that’s 1492.

yes, my mistake

What happened to the Israeli radars?

what Israel radar?

Does anyone have any more photos of the PL-11AE? As well as what aircraft it can be mounted on?

At present, it is known that this year’s air show will be exhibited together with FTC-2000G, and it can be confirmed that FTC-2000G can be used

theoretically, any plane you like, it even has a SAM version, you can see the difference in fins.

but curretly, it’s placed with the FTC-2000G

It would be a shame to have it only available to the FTC-2000G, knowing Chinese engineers I’m sure we’ll see it on other airframes soon, thank you for the photo!

Do you know what system it is compatible with? It would be great to see it on a trailerless system that could be used in war thunder but due to the size it looks more like it would be on a stationary battery. Thank you for the photo!

it haven’t been used in any SPAA system yet.

Not surprised, since Aspide was ground launched any way. The intro does say it is original PL11 derivated and has ability to be radar locked and potentially even data linked.

It‘s not related with the old PL-11, just use it’s name, to show it’s from the same institute. It’s more close to PL-15 than old PL-11, except the position of fins.
