Chieftain Mk 4: The Most Important Israeli Tank the Israelis Never Got

The Mk.2s were likely used in combat.
And the chieftain was heavily influenced & designed with the help from Israeli combat experience.
If not Mk.4s, the Mk.2s should come to Israel tree but as non-TT vehicle

+1 for the Israeli tech tree or at the very least, it should be a squadron vehicle. Not only would it help flesh out Israel’s sparse tech tree with something that isn’t another Magach, but Israel’s inability to acquire the Chieftain directly led to the development of the Merkava MBT, making it a historically significant inclusion. Plus, the British never really used it, so it’s frankly a no-brainer.

Correct me if Im wrong but if the Mk. 4 was never adopted by any other nation, then it should go to the nation that tested the type according to the forum rules. If GB never adopted the Mk.4, then this proposal should be labeled Israeli instead.

As per forum rules as well, it is important to be particular about the variant.

It was manually moved by the mods to GB section from Israeli section. The suggestion author had twice set the category to Israel and the mods twice changed it to GB. According to the suggestion, while the tank was fully intended for them, the Israelis never actually received one. Not even for testing it would seem. I still think Israel should get it but you can do what you want with this information.

Theyll end up making it an 9.0 event vehicle for britain or some other nonsense, probably give it the mk5 lrf and L15A5 rounf and call it a day

It would fit in isreal really well at 8.7 tbh, would give a varied play style.

+1 for Israel.

With the new Iranian Cheiftan being added to Britain recently, I believe it sets a precedent for un-delivered vehicles for other nations to potentially be added to nations who created them. Sure Iran isn’t a tech tree nor does it have a sub-tree placement, but I still worry this vehicle may find its way into the British tree. What do yall think?

While initially very much in favor of having the Chieftain 4 added to the Israeli tech tree (see above) I have now pivoted to where if art imitates life and the Israelis never get the Chieftain 4 but the British do I will think its pretty funny.

But what Iranian Chieftain are you talking about?

For me it’s about the intended user. Just because a vehicle was never delivered in substance or even formally tested by another nation doesn’t discredit the fact that said nation was the original intended customer, and thus would be the only logical operator country if the vehicle was to be added.

And I don’t at all think the the Iranian Chieftain “sets a precedent” for anything. Gaijin does not care that the vehicle was undelivered, as they have been adding minor nation vehicles to the producer country for a while now.

It really sucks because nobody will get to enjoy proper Iranian lineups if the vehicles are divided between USA, Russia, and Britain.

There’s a reason Japan has a tiger, no one even k owes if it made it over there but they bought one so they got it

To be fair the Japanese Tiger is also present in its basic German setup, with no further modifications being conducted prior to sale to Japan.

Because of this it’s essentially a copy paste job that I’d rather not see more of regardless of its significance.
