Maybe some of it is. But there is a hell of a lot that is not.
Honestly the Tank Museum at Bovington might be the best people to enquire with about that. They probably have something about it in their archives, and it will probably be easier to find.

Unfortunately you aren’t going to be able to tell if they are about L15A5 without getting a copy (by visiting in person or paying a bunch of money for someone to copy them) and reading them.
As I requested online , as well as I believe was too vague so there’s likely that reason.
Same folks who said chieftain could penetrate the T64A ufp at 2000 meters, before cr1 was being made but would of ended up over matched as t64 could do the same but at 2600 hundred meters.

I have a few chieftain books what mention L15A5 being a denser alloy and better penetrator but no specification

It’s no different to giving rounds fake performance to keep them at their BR. Look at the MBT-70 series.
L15A5 would simply be nerf. I’d rather keep the fake round than having to deal with APDS.

It is very different as the round penetration is calculated by the french system i cant remember the name of, well half of it.
The L23 didn’t exist at all, only L23A1, Lets Just give the T29 a 105 apds round cause it has a 105 gun.

L23 is L23A1. It just has worse performance than it had irl on the Chieftain just like XM578 is weaker than it was irl on the MBT-70

You’re complaining about L23 spall damage but want it to receive APDS, a round that even in its strongest form has much less consistent spalling than L23.
L23 is not L23A1, L23A1 is the service round that was used by both the MK10 chieftain, MK11 cheiftain and CR1s mate.
There is no such record as has been proven time and time again that L23 was some early prototype round of the L23A1 bar what gaijin have stated with no sources or evidence to back it up.
Hell they even proved that by admitting the MK10 should have the L23A1 round. L23 in game should not be a round, it should be L23A1 that is it . Period.
Fake ammunitions should not be put in game.
again as I’ve stated what twice now? this is due to how gaijin calculates penetration, almost every APFSDS in game is lacking penetration due to the system they use. Why are you actively ignoring that fact.
Again no, the L23A1 roudn found on CR1 should be exactly the same as the L23A1 round used on the mk10 chieftain, it’s the exact same cannon.
L23 itself is again, a fabricated round that even Smin has stated the gaijin dev team believed to be a prototype with lower penetration, which means they have no credible source to site as. Which has been demanded time and time again.
I want historical accuracry with balance, I don’t want the L15A5 round which replaced L15A3 to have identical penetration values, that is just ridiculous, when in reality L15A5 should have comparable values to the L23 we have in game.
L23A1 should be added to the vehicles that fired it. Or remove the L23 and give them correct L15A5 and adjust the BR accordingly.
This nonsense of give it fake ammo to make it sit somewhere has to end, as it just causes yet more doors to open for false BS to be added to the game for the sake of it
Shir 2 the FV4030/3 for example didn’t fire an APFSDS as was proved I believe by @Jarms with a book showing how it should have access to APDS, HEAT FS, Smoke round as well as a HESH round:

L23A1 is the service name of the L23 round, there should be no difference between them. Unless you’ve got some sort of source that no one else has proving L23 is a round.
Hell the Mk10 went into service with still brew after L23A1 went into service, so how could it fire a worse version of the round?
Because its Gaijins way of making it so the Chieftain Mk10 isn’t stuck fighting T-90s and leopard 2s.
Sometimes when it comes to balance, you need to accept that sometimes things gotta be fudged.
The Chieftain is not up to the task of being a 9.3 or 9.7 Vehicle, which is where Gaijin would put it, if it had L23A1.
It barely works at 9.0 in downtiers, And it only works on certain maps.
I agree with Gaijin at times that accuracy isn’t all its cracked up to be. Do you want the Chieftain to Break down every match and need a Multi-hour long repair time?
The Cheiftain is in this werid spot, because the Mk10 is a STOP GAP Vehicle, its not as good as its Contemporary, because its a Upgraded 1960s (prototype’d in the 1950s) vehicle, made as a Stop gap until the MBT-80 was ready, which was going to be the Contemporary to the Leopard 2 and Abrams.
But we all know how the MBT-80 program ended up, full of money laundering, and corruption that left the British without a modern MBT, their only hope was salvaging what they could of it, and the 4030/3 program. creating the C1. Which its self isn’t a true Contemporary to the Abrams or Leopard 2 either.
the British only caught up to modern Armor with the C2, and even then its behind in some aspects. Which is why they are tiered and blanced the way they are. because As much as i give Gaijin shit for the Balancing of some British Vehicles, they understand that they aren’t as good as the other MBTs and such. Ill give them that much.
After the 1960s the British fell behind hard on tank design, and have never been able to catch up, same for Aircraft design. Pre that point? yeah they had some of the best tanks and aircraft in the world, But afterwards they have always been second fiddle to other countries. Mainly because they stopped innovating. they just gave up trying to innovate, They developed Chobham armor in the 1960s, and didn’t use it until the 1980s for example.
They developed what was likely going to be one of the best Supersonic Jet Interceptor/fighters of the 1950s, and pulled the plug on it days before its first flight.
I hate to say it, But past like 9.0 the British aren’t worth playing, its just minute upgrades on vehicles that aren’t up to par, but have shells and armor too good to move down.
Same situation as the Chieftain 900 in that department, the armour is just mockup. It’s actually just a Challenger 3TD under that load of makeup :shrug:
Rheinmetall just wanted something for ergonomic trials of the 130, their 130mm autoloader is too wide for a Leopard 2 turret and they had the 3TD still (The Challenger 2 turret being wide enough to accept it without major modification, so asked to borrow it for a little longer and did this :shrug:
So for all intents and purposes in game it’d just be a CR2 with a big gun.
Wait until we tell Gaijin the Chieftain 900 is built off the Chieftain Mk 5/3P and didn’t have the stowage racks to accommodate L23A1 (APFSDS modification wasn’t done until the /4 upgrades). The brochure saying APFSDS was an option was just that, an option had the vehicle been sold. Seeing as they’ve committed to the tech-demonstrator as is, well, no APFSDS for us.
10.0 and 10.3 are currently really good. Sure the FV-4030/3 and Challenger 1s need some TLC but they are actually good tanks. The line-up is okay, really needs a decent IFV/AFV but passable, the SPAA is fun (I quite enjoy the Rapier, Stormer AD and Stormer HVM) and the CAS is actually very good with the Jag and Buc.
10.7 gets messy because you are constantly dragged into uptiers, but that is hopefully changing this major based upon the datamines with a lot of the spammed 11.7 premiums going to 12.0
based upon that datamine, the CR2, 2F, OES and TES are about to become more viable. With any luck, full uptiers to 12.7 will be rare because people will probably just run 13.0 CAS which will prevent them from seeing 11.7 and 11.7 will probably be dragged down to 10.7 semi often (already does currently if you get lucky)
So these might become viable tanks. That might be copium and the bug list is only getting longer, but stands a chance.
2E and BN are gunna be DOA if nothing changes which is a shame and the Sky Sabre is unfortunately scrap now. I just see no reason to play anything above 11.7 with these changes.
CR3TD is DOA because gaijin picked it, added it and then realised it had nothing they thought it had and has been nerfed so systematically it would be weak at 11.0. Its getting increased to 12.0 which is the final nail in the coffin for it, because why you would ever touch it is beyond me unless you were already planning a 12.0+ lineup for something else. But the CR3TD =/= CR3. Not even close.
The best hope for our truly competitive top tier (assuming they continue to pretend the CR2 bug reports dont exist) is the CR3. Even the P4 (if I have that correct) would be really good. Let alone the fully finished tank. That is the best chance for Britain, because the CR130… would probably be a CR3TD with a slightly better shell and nothing else.
Im wondering whether it will have the Chieftain ammo rack or whether they are going to pull the same BS as the CR1/CR2s and give it 4 round ready rack because “it looks similar”

I mean then C3 TD should have better armor too, but Gaijin just copy and pasted over the C2s damage model.
Legit go look at the two in the armor viewer, they didn’t even change the Hitboxes, its still the C2s entire turret model, the only thing changed was the Mantlet.
