Characteristics of the French 100mm SA47

The pen for the 100mm seems legit. The US 90MM could defeat 102mm/55° at close range (protection criteria), so it’s likely that a slightly bigger caliber at higher velocity can do 120mm/55°.

Edit: Actually, no it doesn’t make sense.
First, the ballistic limit for 4in/55° RHA is lower than that for cast armour? Very sus.

Second, every other test with 90mm solid shot from the US shows a significantly higher ballistic limit:

So, either french 100mm AP is MUCH better against sloped armour, or this data is a result of shooting a below average quality plate.

It’s incredible to see that French shells should be more effective, but Gaijin, who for reasons (not really surprising), nerf them. It’s hard enough to play French, but if Gaijin spoils the game even more, it’s going to become unplayable. Nice research though 👍.

Gaijin isn’t specifically nerfed French rounds. It’s just that the formula that is used to calculate the penetration of these rounds and many others is simply unsuited for that task.

Now the question is, which other French shells did Gaijin deliberately damage?

There are certainly these problems, however there is also the problem that Gaijin applies numerous Nerf on French Vehicles, whether it be the technical aspect or the shells.

Imo it’s better seen with the reloads of many post war French vehicles: AMX M4 should be 4s, foch should be 5-6s while currently it’s 15-20s, ARL should also be in the 6s region, afaik the ca lorraine’s is also too long, and the m4a4 sa50 reloads way longer than the firefly while using a more bespoke turret. The only vehicle’s reload that gaijin bothered to fix is the Bat Chat 25t’s or the „Tank 25t” as gaijin named it
