R-60 is the one of the few exceptions to the rule, it has a very small explosive charge for the role it has. AIM-9D has over three times the explosive mass and Magic I has even more.
This does however demonstrate very well how a direct hit does significant damage even with the fairly small R-60 warhead. The wingtip was removed by 1.1kg of explosives, and one engine was destroyed. Now imagine 3 times that for AIM-9D or for Magic I, more than 8 times that.
Direct hits from almost all missiles barring the very smallest should be lethal to everything short of the Lockheed CL-1201 nuclear powered sky fortress.

I mean, there’s nothing surprising about it, if we take into account Soviet electronics were notorious for their dubious quality, so the proximity fuse very well might have detonated way too early and due to sheer size of the target, even very big warhead was not able to damage critical component, especially if we consider that B-52 has all engines in the wings and fuel tanks are further to the front, so any explosion in the rear part of the aircraft has a chance to not deliver lethal damage.
Because I kinda doubt B-52 could tank 195kg warhead, sorry, but it’s just not happening.

gods alive is this thread just filled with people that can’t aim omfg. The new bombers are still easily killed, stop shooting the fuselage.
And God forbid a bomber is playable and enjoyable in a game. I don’t even fly bombers, I’m a fighter main and it’s seriously boring killing bombers because of how low risk it is. Gaijin needs to revert the gunner nerf from 5+ years ago and allow them to engage people at .5km again. It was far more fun to strategically engage bombers and actually have a plan on how to shoot them down because there was risk.

Since a lot of people want to discount the Blenheim Mk.IV trials because it’s not a B-17…I decided to test the Mk.108 against the Blenheim.
Basically we know for a fact that a single 30mm hit to the tail section to the Blenheim will cause structural damage. This is not the case with the current dev server damage model implementation.
