Cf-188a

Canadian CF-188A premium should get a variable br similar to the mig21 bison. This f18 variant has received multiple upgrades over its lifespan including increase in internal countermeasure load, and the usage of AIM-120 AMRAAMs. It should be able to get a variable br of 12.7 and either 13.7 or 14.0 (if Gaijin wants to avoid a 14.0 premium they can give the f18d loadout to the canadian one as the second BR)

IIRC variable br is planned for more jets in the future and is only released for few jets in this update, so maybe in future it might get it as well

In order to use AIM-120s, the CF-188 needed new electronics & radar, which came as part of the Incremental Modernization Project(IMP) upgrade. The one in the game is from the late 90s; well, the upgrades to the radar and whatnot happened in the 2000s. So it physically can’t use AIM-120s and needs a separate addition, as better weapons came with full upgrades that basically replaced everything but the engine and airframe itself.

Need these versions for other weapons.

What would place this lower than all the other hornets that get amraams

this one isnt an AIM-120 capable CF-188.

its the same plane, just with upgrades, they can simply change the radar, and give the upgrades, or give a modification in game that gives said loadout and radar, similar to the bmp1 modification that changes its variant. only this time since its a different air to air loadout would result in the br change

if gaijin wants to avoid a 14.0 premium, the f18d premium is at 13.7, and gets less amraams, they can just do the same thing here

again, they can just introduce a modification that gives it the newer radar, similar to how some mods in GRB completely rework some vehicles. only this time, they can take it abit further due to the variable BRs

Yeah, it might be easier to add an AIM-120-capable CF-188A as a new one.
Even with Variable BRs, unlike USN counterparts.

Plus, it feels quite bizarre to see the ‘CF-188A need AIM-120’ topic.
If I remember correctly, almost all topics like these are focused on F/A-18C(Early) of the USN while comparing these with either F/A-18C(Early/Swiss) or that infamous Su-30 premiums.

Is this planned only for premium vehicles for now? Or are there any fromTT that will get this feature?

Minor issue: it doesn’t work like that.

It’s not just a new radar; it’s a new everything, only two parts of it weren’t replaced: the engine and airframe. And even then, I’m 90% sure it’s been “ship of theseused” between all the repairs and the parts from the Aussie Hornets.

Both upgrades need new models, as they share little with each other, with the full cockpit replaced in both. And I’m sure there are other modifications that affect the look as well.

What you are suggesting isn’t like the BMP-1, but more like if the F-15 could become any other through a modification, something that is physically impossible.

Considering it needs a new model, as it’s far more than just a radar replacement, it’s the only option for an AIM-120 CF-188.

its a bit more than that but sure…

i dont think its worth changing the canadair hornet for a different model to be a top tier plane when the bison has that covered now with R77. 12.7 is a sweet spot for such an aircraft

Su-25SM3 has it on the dev server currently, might be some others. Comically brings it down to 10.7 in ARB with R-73s and a MAW (and auto-tracker if you feel like dunking people with AGMs after), will probably be changed by release, but the offsets are the same for every mode and might’ve been balanced for GRB instead.
