10 years would not be enough time for France to develop a industry (what they don’t have) and a chassis and cost to produce it and develop it
Again, read the interview; it does state that the manufacturing is actually retained, man, come on
Not for a whole new chassis or platform you understand it’s not just one thing fits all.
You’re arguing with the people who are in charge of KNDS and MCGS, man, just look at the interview. It literally says that there’s “No problem” (corporate speak) in manufacturing in-France, and that’s If it uses a Leopard 2 hull at all. So it’s either an upgraded 2A8 made in France, or a unique hull; that’s set in stone
It’s just going to be a 2a8 hull of sort.
Again, that’s not decided upon yet.
still the thing, france did show of the leclercl evo, with again upgraded chassis, but still considers the leo chassis over leclerc ones.
Even if any research further on the leclerc chassis could be translated to upgrades to existing ones as well
CAPINT is planned for up to 2038 to replace the leclerc, while leo 3 is to be start handing out 2032.
Source does say it weirdly, so i am not sure considering 200 leclercs are supposed to be replaced.
There i gotta say, its a doctrine thing, but germany is a leader in submarine development, we just dont like using atom energy
I wouldnt take difference of doctrines into a comparison of development capabilities.
Thats like saying germany cant develop aircraft carriers, well yeah we dont use them or need the capability
So just to clarify, the reason you never see Germany mentioned in the top for submarines, is because nuclear submarines are just that much of a different ballpark in capability and utility, they’re like making a tank vs making an IFV in a way.
Aside that, CAPINT is set for 2035, at least in the last report for the military budget and spending this month, to replace the Leclerc, which will be retired in 2037. It also seems due to the budget increasing rather significantly, the CAPINT fleet will be larger than the Leclerc’s, hence a desire for either Leopard hulls being made in France, or a new hull developed, although that decision may only come in 2028, because the budget will be re-analyzed for a 2nd PA-NG, which obviously holds priority
