Canadian F-105 Avro Arrow

I wish this was available under the British tech tree.
The Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow was a highly advanced, delta-winged supersonic interceptor developed in the 1950s to defend against Soviet bombers over the Arctic. First flying in 1958, it was a technological marvel, reaching speeds over Mach 2, but was abruptly canceled in 1959 by the Diefenbaker government, resulting in the destruction of all aircraft.

It would be terrible in war thunder. No flares, garbage missiles, no turn at all, literally mig-25 from wish for in game purposes.

No thanks, extremely hard to balance

It would basically be an F-106 equivalent

Not really, f106 can turn at least. Arrow is going to be… torturous gameplay imo. No place for it like the f117 (I can see them adding it as like an event vehicle though)

Would be an event vehicle if added to the British tree.

And if Canada gets a home, it can never be added to the tree Canada gets a home in. (Also, should be TT, for them it is one of the few Selling points for Canada).

Tho got an interesting selection of weapons. And both the Mk 1 and 2 are WT possible. Some at the Canadian WT Discord Server are making a highly detailed suggestion for them.

What r these

I mean, it’s a 1950’s aircraft, last I checked, flares weren’t common then.

Depends on what missiles are allowed, out of the options, which there is a few.

The CF-105 is also an older aircraft. But I guess, every older aircraft that filled the same role is a knock-off of a newer aircraft.

So, all interceptor aircraft have no place in WT. It’s good to know your thoughts. The CF-105 can at least kill planes, over an unarmed “stealth bomber.”

I can that too, as all other Cold War interceptors we’ve got have been as well. Even tho at least the Mk 1(would be nice if both Mk 1 and 2 were) should be TT, as it thee domestic Canadian aircraft and selling point for them (also only one other game has ever added it officially(tho that is more than the CF-100s…), so it would be nice for it to be available to everyone(along with not being keep from joining Canada if it ever gets a home))

That’s why I said for in game purposes

Indeed

The domestic Canadian missile was meant to be an early SARH AAM missile, but had issues found during testing that couldn’t be fixed(because of its size, iirc), so it was cancelled in favour of partnering up with the US to make the Sparrow II missiles. But because WT doesn’t model issues, they should be both possible additions on aircraft that tested them, or in this case, prototypes meant to have them(as iirc for prototype aircraft they usually get full planned loadouts).

Wasn’t the CF-105 intended to use Sparrow IIs (AIM-7B) which were ARH instead of SARH? Those might be decent if they have ~15G overload and ~6km active radar range.

F-106 is also already here. Funny, both are based on the 1970s version and not their first one, thinking about it.

But I also think interceptor aircraft have a place in WT, and advocate for their addition, unlike the person I was replying to.

Would be 9.0 without the gun or wouldn’t be added to the game at all tbh, it’s like the MiG-21 but the T/W is worse

It’s literally just gaijin’s shitty modeling that makes the F-106 feel like it has no thrust. The plane has 0.71 TWR which is very good for that time period. That’s comparable to MiG-21Bis in normal afterburner (not emergency mode).

Funny 10.3 ARH missiles
