Okay. Im serious with this. Overpressure entirely just needs TURNED OFF.
It doesn’t work for half the shells it sholuld, (looking at you HESH) Yet is the most blatantly overpowered thing in this game, because it completely nullifies any sort of Heavy Vehicle.
I was FINE with it when we only had the KV2s and such. Big slow things with Big guns, But having ALL of these random AF fast Artillery vehicles that are faster and more agile than most of the LIGHT TANKS at their BRs. it needs to GO.
But you wont change a thing will you Gaijin? Because GOD FORBID someone wants to play a vehicle that has armor plating on it. God forbid someone likes a vehicle that has armor, and is designed to be hard to kill, Just give everyone garbage tier no skill HE throwers that ruin the balance of the game. that will help alot. That makes heavy tanks so much more fun to play!.
Or Maybe getting shot in the track and it somehow nuking your entire crew, while a FV4005 can’t even kill a Tiger II with a direct hit to its turret front.
On top of that, The T58 never even fired its GUN, Yet the FV4005 fired nearly a 1000 rounds in testing, and time and time again proved how DEVASTATING its shell was. Yet it can barely even break a track in game, while a basically fake heavy with made up armor stats and gun stats, gets to nuke everything with a Fake HESH round that never got built.
Not quite as simple as that.
2 main reasons they went with AP solid shot
the AP had better pen, and they thought that pen had more weight than post-pen damage.
manufacturing problems for APHE - only 1 company (Hadfields) made APHE, so the UK were worried they could not manufacture enough - was easier to just go with AP (multiple manufacturers).
I get that when being hit by M44 and M55 all the time. Barely graze my tank and BOOM!
Light, medium heavy, doesn’t matter. No matter where they hit you - dead.
that being said it says it`s a 6-pounder ammunition, not the 3-pounder that tanks had.
Also that being said, the 3-pounders (which were also mounted on ships) certainly had mostly SHOT ammunition and HEs.
I also found information about SAPHEs which can be counted as APHE tho.
well thats a good point. Tho i think we need to further research where did that ammunition came from as i totally see both thoughts having proofs
tho we dont have the “reliability” as option ingame. CHurchill`s dont catch on fire, 17prd dont explode after 10 shots, Tiger’s transmission does not die after 10 seconds of turn on mud, ect ect ect. Thats not the valid poing to use to “aphe overpowered” discussion
Heavy tanks have been power crept so hard the past few years. They already had a very niche role and required team support to perform well, but now they’re just outdated and you’d be actively hampering your team if you spawned one in.
All of this is very correct, but you have to keep in mind that APDS does have reliability attached to it - the shatter mechanic.
Why? I’m not sure, but it’s inconsistent.
My Jagdtiger or my Panther will never suffer from mechanical issues. But they both have the lowered RPM set by the engine governor for reliability reasons. The Tiger E does not have that limitation.
Why? I’m not sure, but it’s inconsistent.
Earlier versions of the T-34 could not run at full power for more than 12 minutes for risk of overheating the engine. This is not modelled in game - unlike the other reliability limitations I’ve listed. And meanwhile, planes very much do need to manage their temperatures.
Why? I’m not sure, but it’s inconsistent…
That’s WT. Everything is decided on a case by case basis. Even acting upon bug reports. I get why people get frustrated at times, it’s like bashing your head against a brick wall. At some point you’ve gotta learn to just roll with it and enjoy the game for what it is. Of course a for profit company is gonna do whatever it wants/thinks it can get away with.
Im not sure that`s exactlu “reliability”, rather its like “penetration” mechaic being sore to APDS. As it does not usually happen with the straight armor, usually its when you happen to not pen the tank.
Tho its a good point! Im not really sure myself, and thats pretty stupid mechanic if you ask me.
well they do have that to make them “realistic” in a way other tanks are realistic - with basic stats. Same with liveries and “modifications” of one tank
That being said, i do agree with you that this is practically the case. Gaijin desides anything case by case. Polish tanks? Dropped separately. Hungarian tanks? well a subtree. Get sweden a trial tank? Okay! Get USSR the trial tank? Hell naw! Reload speed is balance measure? Yes! Make autoloaders balanced with lower reload? Nooo, get the documents!
And list goes on and on :/
That may not be a problem, but that sure is a confusing part of the game
Not going to engage in vehicle faults. That’d be a pointless debate, nearly every vehicle has faults of some kind.
The point is that APDS has shatter added, presumably, due to realism. Yet, APHE a notoriously unreliable round has no drawbacks. So either add the drawbacks on APHE or remove the drawbacks on APDS to make it fair.
Edit: Also, he’s talking about your WW1 claim. He’s saying that the Mark V, WW1 event vehicle, literally has an APHE round. That’s why it says 6-Pdr not 3-Pdr, because it had a 6-Pdr gun.
Since WT basically tries to model everything to a real life standard, it makes the most sense to have APHE that performs like real life.
Which means realistic fragment dispersion instead of overperforming spherical explosion and fuzes that only work at certain impact angles and armor level.
And of course it should cause armor spalling like solid AP.
APHE should be most reliable against light armored targets.
Also, does anyone know why the SLA-16 was even part of the HP nerf to the King tigers? The SLA-16 engines entire purpose was to have the torque and power to beable to RUN a King tiger at its full output. which was 750hp.
Id be fine if it got moved up to 7.0, and kept the 750hp.
see youre not helping your case because the aphe change, wouldnt have changed overpressure, thats a separate mechanic. the only thing the change wouldve done was change how spalling worked for aphe.
which means insanely good aphe would still be good, nuke shells that have the explosive mass to overpressure people would still overpressure you, and bad aphe shells would become worse…
please tell me how this wouldve changed anything beside make things worse?
also i seems this thread is a personal whine thread for op. gotcha
