Incorrect. Cutting down enemy air forces does two things.

The first is quite obvious, denying them the hefty capability CAS can give them. Properly utilized CAS can win battles or turn the tide, but SPAA prevents that.

Second up, it drains the enemy of their airstrike points and enables you to bring your own CAS in. Running a Bkan vs CAS and then using the accumulated points to spawn your own CAS is one of the best things you can do with it, and has an undeniable impact upon the battle.

I’m not advocating NO AIR, i want a more balanced mechanic.
SPAAG with IR missiles can be avoided with flares, laser guided can be avoided and SAM can’t move during flight.

Buccaneer at 10.3 ish BR has 28 x 500lbs bombs enough to carpet a large section of the map.
most helicopters have flares or like Mi28NM has some kind of jammer impervious to IR missiles.

The current mechanic is tilted to much towards AIR:

  • no costs, even free points , with possibility to earn 3 points if you egress the fly-out
  • i lose almost 7k SL if FlakRakPz1 Roland is destroyed and top-tier SPAAG if even more expensive;
  • SAMS cost between 400-950 SL per shot, unless your USSR or only have on missile to begin with.

dont know what BR you play, but at 10.3-7, there are way more events then 2 per battle. However SWE does have nice SPAAG in ASRAD-R.

You make some good points and I agree that aircraft should not be removed from GFAB. As far as bunching up, you are correct but sometimes you have no choice as it seems that the maps are getting smaller and smaller. Having larger maps with actual playable areas in addition to more cp’s to capture might mitigate some of the problems dealing with aircraft.

Ahh, you were referring to top tier, my bad.

Honestly, I think much of those problems can be fixed with loadout tuning and fixing the bomb fuzes (Especially with the aformentioned buc.)

As for this, I have always supported removing point gain for egress - imo it should only be SL or RP rewards. Your other two points indicate to me that AB repair costs need a look-over, especially SPAA.

Not quite. Even just firing at them degrades their capability, as it forces them to go evasive and worsens target selection. God knows its happened plenty of times faciny Gepards or M163s.

On the one hand I support ticket loss conceptually, but on the other hand, AB games are already quite short. If the addition of ticket loss was mirrored with a slight reduction in objective ticket drain, though, I would be fine with it.

As for what BRs I play, mainly 8.0/8.7/7.0.

Agreed, as long as there is actual cover and it isnt Fire Arc.

My personal favorite is the plane/helicopter thingy getting obliterated/destroyed and still manage to toss a bomb or get off an atgm for the kill. Such buffoonery

Fire Arc should be banned as a map. Worst one out there.

my experience so far grinding the current event:

  • playing 10.7 (USSR, USA, ITA) - 11.3 (JPN, ISR)- 11.7 (GER, GBR) 12.0 (SWE) GFAB;

  • 80% or more CAS spawns behind my spawn;

  • one instance chopper spawned well within 1km, on average well within 2km.;

  • one instance i hit and “destroyed” CAS, he was a burning wreck with no wings. he was still able to move and fire of rockets to kill me ;(

When playing the FlaRakRad or ITO both armed with VT-1, one of the fastest SAM with iirc 1250 ms and a 50G overload. In some instances, when planes actually do spawn further away (5-6 km), they will have released most of the time and can still ruin your (or someone else’s) day.

for me it’s very frustrating to play SPAAG/SAM. With then new mechanic if they still don’t lawndart after or just before drop, you’ll only get a single pass most time before they egress. All toptiers iirc have free SAM’s so no loss there, but at lower tiers, SAM’s cost SL. the ISR Chaparal leads with 900+ SL per missile.

Also i noticed another thing, choppers like the AH-64D, which carry Hellfire II atgm’s. they are able to do barrel rolls and other very erratic behaviour and still keep a laser lock on me. While my Star streak seems to be phasing through helicopters entirely.

they (all CAS) can do insane manoeuvres with full ordnance and still kill you, while laser or radar guided SAM’s need to standstill to actually fire and move really slowly during flight to score a hit. Even then a “kill” is not assured due to the funky damage model, I’ve seen choppers tank multiple SAM’s and still keep going.

all wheeled SPAAG/SAM are huge with a 250% visibility, so they need solid cover or they are spotted almost straight away, wherever they are. Only the Pantsir can scare lights away, the rest are toast against GF, maybe the Automatic too, but it’s less effective against long range CAS.

But as it stands Gaijin are unwilling or unable to change the plethora of suggestions voiced over the years on the forums concerning this topic.

For me the risk reward balance is way of:

  • People spawning SAM reduce team effectiveness against GF, if spawned early in match;
  • Vehicles are expensive (SL), harder to achieve good rewards. Repair, reload, etc;
  • no actual impact on the match other then maybe prevent them from bombing team, no ticket loss;
  • CAS, risks nothing, no repair, no death (spawn);
  • CAS, spawns in from behind spawn;
  • CAS, points are gained to easily, people with no kill or even Assists get CAS fly-out;
  • CAS, is always spaded, with best load-outs;

They don’t a dime for Arcade is obvious many ppl try to get to them about the issue and the new forum is worst that before, now is easy to burry all topic that they don’t like.

Yes 80% enemy spawn behind your respawn is obvious issue and seriously annoying if fight and get missile bomb from behind

I’m with you at all what you have write but well Gaijin don’t care at all 10 years we wait for Fix in arcade and what they do chance BRs twice in 1 month and next take out Recicle from fighters now we need to wait another 10 years for chance.

Planes are somewhat well balanced in ab. In high tier, you spawn close, so vulnerable to IR missiles. In low tier you’repretty much forced to kamikaze, or at least be highly vulnerable, in order to reasonably have a shot at scoring a kill

In fact it’s a much better system than RB. cus in AB you always have fighters to shoot down the plane or at least disrupt it, and those planes can’t land and rearm.

At the same time, those who are lucky (e.g. no one spawns interceptors) are handsomely rewarded with items like ATGM helicopters that can take out multiple tanks from 2-3km away. (Assuming no missile SPAA)

Removing planes would make grind harder, as plane earning go to tank earning. Also it ruin SPAA.

What missile is bombing you? I find them to be non issue most of the times as I can hide behind building (helicopters)…the mavericks are the only credible threat

Dude they respawn every 20 sec in AB what you say is balanced no Jet have IR missile dunno what BR you play and what you talking about IR missile in Arcade have AAA they are 9.3 and 8.3 start with Radar but again they are so many that if you aim at one other respawn behind respawn and you die this is complete non sense

No in fact you have no fighter to kill enemy Bomber your speed and respawn is mediocre at best some times you respawn close some others 1.4 km away with make Bomber bomb with no problem at all

Again ATGM in Helicopters are as the Jets respawning behind your own respawn trying to push and aiming at the enemy make you Exp Pinata without Reason

Don’t saying they should remove them but make balancing respawn preferable every team should respawn from his own Respawn not behind enemy that’s complete BS

You know how many times loose your tank at respawn from Carpet bombing is just BS giving free Frags for basically nothing now is even worse that before

I agree the spawn killing is a problem, and I agree some fighters spawn too far and are too slow.

I’ve given up with open top vehicles.

Getting strafed in M44 or M10 etc in most games is not much fun.

Just run a tank only game mode. Happy to double the wait time for a game.

This was possibly true a few months ago…since they removed the target IDs for fighters strafing become much less frequent… it still happens, but not even close to previous levels.
BTW…if air power is removed, the issue for M10s and M44s would not be “just” wait time…it would make sense to increase BRs for vehicles that no longer die so much to aircraft…
In fact…present state is the best for M10s and such…no BR hike and much less air attacks…not sure what the issue might be…(M10 was always one of the most effective vehicles in game for its BR)

M10 (At least in AB) is honestly just okay in my experience - compared to the shermans its rather bad - but I agree that its fine where it is.

M44 would absolutely go up due to AB ranging system though. My only issue with the present state is cough cough tiny tims and bomb fuses being buggy and not properly set to 10s when above a certain altitude.

And the A-10 at an uber-low BR for some reason.

They need to limit the number of planes a player can get for each battle. Have had instances where my spaa shot down a bomber. 45 seconds later that same player was back in a plane and managed to revenge bomb me. That’s just messed up.

The issue I have with planes in Arcade is this.

  1. Bombers are incredibly flimsy (weaker then even Air Arcade) and your tail/wing/etc. get shot off with one spray constantly.
  2. Fighters either spawn way in the back or right on-top of you. The ones in the back have no chance of catching up and the ones close are usually out of range of any friendly fighters. You don’t have enough to react most of the time.
  3. Bombing from higher altitude (not saying high) has no counter play because the bombs make no noise the majority of the time and they explode on impact with the ground.
  4. The bombers tend to get worse as you move up in BR. You go from getting Lancasters with 10-14 bombs to getting jets with 1 bomb and it’s a complete waste of your points.

Arcade is in WAY better state than Realistic.
In any case, all ground modes …let’s say it’s good to play when they pay you. Event vehicles/premiums/or sell them to market.
If any kind of payment isn’t involved…the gameplay is so bad that isn’t worthy to spit it.
Maps/botting-3d partying/ a million bugs and the damage models… are an RNG mess , hilarious.
