Buzzing noise and then a crash

I am using the Full HD Client. It is not an in game noise, nor a physical noise. Running on a RTX 2080 Super, Ryzen 7 5700X3D, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, some random platimax PSU, and idk thermalright cooler. I don’t think its related to my hard drive, but I’m not sure.

Are there any other symptoms

Yeah, sometimes it doesn’t crash. I also recently upgraded to the 2080 SUPER. Before I had a 2060. If the game doesn’t crash, the textures will say “The texture quality has been reduced to medium due to insufficient video memory”. I personally don’t think its a video memory related issue since it didn’t happen with the RTX 2060. I rock 10 fans and a lianli lancool case, and I checked the temps so it couldn’t be a cooling issue either.

this is caused by drivers hanging and stuttering. Reinstall your GPU drivers

Okay i will try it thank you!

It didn’t work. It is still freezing and I also uninstalled/updated the drivers multiple times. Sometimes the grass will occasionally become a really bright pink or green and it’s the same with the trees. I don’t really mind the visual ones, its just the lag that’s bothering me.

oh. have you verified the game files?

Yep. I’ve tried Check Files, and Diagnostic files. I also ran SFC and it repaired a few files, but still didn’t work.

oh dear. were you having these problems on your 2060 or only after your upgrade to the 2080? did you plug the GPU in right and are you sure the card was in good condition? because there’s a small chance its the card itself. more than likely a bad file somewhere so don’t panic

Yes, the card is in great condition. I bought it brand new.

make sure every component is seated in your PC correct. drives, RAM, processor and GPU as it can just be a less than perfect connection. also verify your files on your operating system as it could be a number of things

I don’t think its any of the components since it is War Thunder only.

Should I uninstall and reinstall?

I run an RTX 2060 Super and I have no problems.

The only time I can think of when I had bright pink on objects was when I used to make mods for various games and I forgot to put in a texture for an object. I only know bright pink as no texture or the texture can’t be read, which is a graphical problem.

Are you sure you haven’t got a duff GPU from the batch. Every now and then with every mass produced product, from tooth brushes to cars, there will always be some duff ones that either refuse to work or just don’t work properly. I had that years and years ago when I bought an nVidia GTX 580. I returned it for a replacement and everything was good.

What about your VRAM. Is that OK? I doubt it’s you VRAM but it doesn’t hurt to check.

Hard drives can be rather loud when they spin up. Are you sure that your hard drive is not on it’s way out? If the disc inside is worn out and becomes unbalanced, it can cause a buzzing vibrating noise, similar to when you have a front wheel on your car unbalanced and it vibtrates up through the steering wheel. HDD’s can also be a problem these days, just because they are all old tech. I had a problem 2 years ago with lagging, low transfer bandwidth and FPS drops. I knew it wasn’t my internet because I am with Sky with super fast connection. I swapped it out for a 2TB SSD and all my lagging, low transfer bandwidth and FPS drop problems disappeared. I cannot imagine any game developer using hard drives any more. HDDs are now obsolete except for storing files, photos, music, etc. SSDs are known for their fast transfer rate if you make sure you get the correct SATA lead. All your games will load up super fast too. SSDs have no moving parts to go wrong and HDDs are too slow for todays modern games.

You might be right. Whenever I lag, it creates some sort of sound like a paper clip tapping on glass. I contacted support and they said it was a miscalibration between the monitor and the drivers, but I don’t think so because I updated and reinstalled drivers multiple times and to this day it still makes that noise. I have been using the same drive for 3 years, and I don’t know what to think of it. Yes, you are right. It is the textures being unable to be read due to some sort of mechanical game error. Now, I have been using my RTX 2080 SUPER for quite a while, (4 months so so) but will it be too late for a return? I was planning on getting the 40 series but I don’t think they can fit my motherboard since it has a different slot kind.

Aw fuck my game just crashed twice in 10 minutes.

I don’t know where you are for the retail regulations, but I know here in the UK, everything brand new comes with a 12 month guarantee to return any product that has a fault. In the UK, you still have 8 months of guarantee left. You should be able to return it for a replacement free of charge.

We have this law because governments know that mass produced items do not always come off the production line perfect. Some duff ones will always be missed by QC (quality control).

So now my computer is acting weird. Only in war thunder though. Whenever I try to slightly customize my graphic choices it always lags/freezes a bit when hovering over the customization sliders/switches. Sometimes, my game completely crashes too.

I’m not sure what else to suggest. My knowledge has come over the last 10-15 years from building my own and my family and friends gaming PC’s, and making game mods (mainly race car livery skin mods
for Wreckfest and Project Cars 1&2 , and truck and trailer skin mods for Euro Truck Simulator II). All my knowledge over the years is self taught through trial and error, and not through being taught.

I think you might have to find someone on a PC forum that could probably help you. Out of the millions of people that have gaming PC’s, you won’t be the “only” person in the country to ever have had that problem. All you need to find is someone that knows the main cause, or at least of had the same problem and found out how to fix it. The best place to find the proper PC experts is on all the PC forums on the internet. The audience to read and hopefully answer your question will be a lot bigger with a wider knowledge of PC programs and PC hardware, what clashes with what, and what happens if something goes wrong. With this specific game furum site, your audience will be this games players only and a much smaller audience, where maybe none of them have ever had this problem before.

alr thx
