Bugs related to the JA37DI

I understand that Gaijin’s decision to sell an $80 premium aircraft is highly questionable from a gameplay perspective. However, if there are buyers, others can benefit since it indirectly funds the game without them having to spend anything.

That said, it feels particularly wrong not to address critical bugs related to the plane, especially when these issues make it severely underpowered at a BR of 13.7—representing at least 50% of the game. It’s already challenging to use a plane that handles like a bus, let alone one sold at the price of a full game.

The key bugs include:

  • The missing data link.
  • A completely broken RWR, with no plane identification. (Though I’ve heard the RWR is currently broken across all planes.)
  • The fact that it lacks upgraded RB74 missiles, despite the Swedish government having initiated a modernization project for these missiles before the DI variant was even introduced.

You can find a comprehensive overview of these bugs here: JA37DI Discussion.

Maybe I’m being selfish, but this plane should never have been added to the game in its current state—especially when players didn’t even have the opportunity to test it on the dev servers.

For me the missing lock box in the HUD is also a relevant bug, if not even the most relevant for me (Sim player…).

The lack of datalink channels and IRCCM missiles is the only thing keeping me from buying this. A HMD/HMS would also be quite nice.

this is really bad too. So unfortunate…

From what I understood, the issues with the datalink, RWR, and HMD being missing have been accepted. Regarding the RB 74 with IRCCM, there are many indications pointing to this, but no one has found any document explicitly confirming that the DI had the RB 74 with an added IRCCM module. However, for the other bugs, it seems that Gaijin has simply decided not to prioritize them.

The 13.0 Viggens are so bad. They are overtierd af. Even tho it has 120s, it doesnt compensate the rwr, flightmodel, radar and ir missiles.

Its simply tiered by the amraams which doesnt work for this airframe

on top u get 95% 13.7.

All can be remedied, even the RWR.
The rwr had increased features in its ECM pod, tho i dont know what myself but anything is better than what we have
The datalink and upgraded are my bug reports and im sad they still arent here despite plenty of time for the datalink, less so RB74M as it was done on the day of the update as i had to consult a tech mod to make an internal report

It’s really strong in the sim 12.3-13.0 bracket at least, those AIM-120s are nasty and 9Ls aren’t too bad there. If you’re against Sweden+Germany combo it’s tough with them having the only ARHs but I am very new to sim so ymmv.

its a joke sweden got the RB74M in the first place, its an aim 9l(I)-1 and germany is still lacking their own missle on any aircraft.
its at the same br as the f4f ice u can deal with smoke trails missle

how about u calm down and stop complaining

Not really, its more A-Historic using the base 9L

It also has less missiles and a worse radar without datalink
The F4F would still be a far better plane if the viggen got its correct RB74

The first in the world (also available on the JA37C, both in the form of the JAKTLINK system)

This is historical, sadly

I kinda need a source on this or I’d call BS, as I’ve never heard of it, unless you are simply talking about the RB-74M’s

Other than that, we’ve busted the FM is, completely in-accurate, even to the called “flight manuals” they used (in of which state that it’s current FM is completely wrong, despite using the same manual) and not mentioning pilot remarks stating that it was much more powerful, and capable than it is in game, as well as being able to pull almost any G’s without frame stress, but you did run the risk of superstalling if you nosed above an AOA of ≈ 25, and having a peacetime G-Limiter at 6 G’s, as well as other numerous remarks from a JA37 Specific pilot

This full conversation was here;

As well as all of the information of the flight performance.

Upon delivery of the missiles to sweden in 1987, they were upgraded
