Many confuse BTR-82AT with version with completely other turret, however it’s just a version with multichannel thermal gunner sight and mounts for cage armour.
BTR-82AT also brings cage armour, however its not strict and optional, should be in game as modification, similar way as M1128.
Kevlar lined is only at the sides sadly.
Also Belorus BTR-82A get their own 2ns generation thermal sights, that could become a premium.

Yes, although according to the leaks we are supposed to get the BTR-82AT, which also comes with third generation gunner thermals and some applique armor for the hull front and sides.

That it is! Luckily it seems we won’t have to worry about some poor guy having to stand on top from the looks of it. I’m pleasantly surprised though, I thought for sure we’d just get the BTR-82AT with the Ballista turret or one with just the extra armor, but the Kornet launcher is a nice addition! Especially since there’s an odd lack of 9M133 carrying vehicles, only the BMP-2M at the moment.
Likely is the BTR-82AT from the leaks, doesn’t have the PL-1 IR emitter like the base BTR-82A, and the armour addons are optional

We need the Ballista turret as a modification.
Its kinda weird, the ATGM can be placed on the side of the turret, yet Gaijin decided to keep it on top of it, in a VERY bad place
Well, it’s good here in War Thunder since we have ghost crewmen to operate it
With the possible introduction of infantry, im just scared to see the “ghost crewman” becoming the tank commander xD

I understand wanting another vehicle in the game, but what do you plan to do with another APC? I’m not asking to be a contrarian I’m genuinely curious. I mean the BTR-82A is long overdue (same with the LAV-25) but like, it can’t perform the role it was intended to in war thunder. APCs and IFVs can’t carry troops so it’ll just be another soft target for tanks and CAS to one-shot. Is it the hope that the mechanic will be added later on or just the cool factor?
