It could but realistically it’s not going to be. Gaijin might not even add HE, almost all Rank 1 vehicles don’t get HE rounds.
An LMG would be much more effective in taking out a truck then the 45mm Mortar.
Realistically speaking, some L3 tanks mounted additional light machine guns (Fiat 14/35, Bren).

Smoke rounds would be the best use out of this.
But the fun I’ve had with the Ro-Go’s 70mm HEAT shell I would def carry a lot of HE rounds just to play around.
So regular L3 can maybe recieve the mortar or we can just add a squadron (because even I, which brought basically the rank I mid squad would not pay for that mortar alone, its either w the cannon or free, or free with the cannon hopefully) mg armed L3 with the mortar if Gaijin doesn’t accept adding it to the contracarro variant because there aren’t many pictures in said configuration.

Incredible how a missile which basically only existed as a concept in an expo is being treated like that.
Anyways can’t wait for more mortar armed vehicles at rank I, prob squadrons but still.
Got my eye on the universal carrier w a mortar, machine gun and a boys AT rifle.

Unfortunately it’s only used to transport the gun and ammo. So no firing on the move 😌
It’s a shame… A Piaggio Vespa with a front-mounted anti-tank gun would be absolutely hilarious if implemented in the game…
However, this exists for the Danish army:
