The issue I’m decribing relates with how the Challenger 2’s, Challenger 2E, and Black Night still relies on L23A1 as their stock APFSDS round at 12.0 and 11.7 which you first unlock at 10.3, whilst nations such a Germany and others, with a tank like the Leopard 2A4 at 10.7 have DM13, but the Leopard 2A5 at 12.0 using the same cannon, doesn’t need to use DM13 as its stock apfsds round, but has DM33 instead as its stock round.
L23A1 and DM13 are very simular to each other, in terms of penertation (DM13 - 393mm)(L23A1 - 396mm), except whilst Germany stops using DM13 at 10.7 and moves to DM33 as its stock round(481mm), Britian still has to use L23A1 as its stock round at 11.7-12.0
What I’m proposing is removing L23A1 for Britian’s 12.0-11.7 MBT’s and making L26 the new stock round, so that it matches the stock round penetration ranges of other nations at 11.7-12.0.
11.7-12.0 vehicles such as the Leopard 2A7’s stock round DM33 having 496mm of pen, whilst the Challenger 2’s L23A1 has 396mm of pen, and USA’s M829 with 491mm of pen, Russia’s 3BM42 with 457mm of pen, China’s Type 1985-I with 466mm of pen, and France with 425mm of pen.
The fact that Britian still uses a round with less than 400mm of pen at 11.7-12.0, whilst all other nations stock round has more than 400mm of pen, doesn’t make any sense in terms of balance, especially since other nations may use the same cannon from a lower BR, but not require using the weaker rounds, that the lower BR tank with the same cannon uses, such as the case with the Leo 2A4 and Leo 2A5 or T80B and the T80U.
EDIT: Also want to clarify, for 11.7 vehicles it is a little more understandable that L23A1 is there, given you don’t have to use HEAT as your stock round, but at least for 12.0 vehicle’s that do get APFSDS stock, and for the 12.0 CR2’s I feel Britain should atleast have L26 as their stock round, to match other nation’s stock round penetration range.
Same cannon, different BR, different ammunition:
