Because UK needs a top tier fighter. Gaijin chose the Gripen. SA only operates the D and the C so the c is really the only option for it. The tornado GR.4 isn’t competitive and the euro would be too soon so they had to go in the middle.
The F-16C BLK 50 and Barak II never used the AIM-7M yet it has it in game. It’s a balancing thing. The ZA Gripen C and Flygvapnet Gripen A should be the same aircraft.

Why Sweden is getting base version of Gripen while UK is recieving much better version despite they are not the main users.
İ understand Uk needs a better jet but this doesnt mean Gaijin should screw Sweden like this.

My point was expanding on yours a bit, the SAAF C never mounted AMRAAMs, so is fine to add in the respect of saving AMRAAM platforms for the AMRAAMageddon, where as the Swedish C did very etensivily.
Personally I think they’re pulling a F-16A/ADF again. Again wouldn’t be the first time, and they said top tier, which is currently 12.3, not so much 12.0 though that is splitting hairs a little

Yeah, I agree with that. The assumption was that the A was being skipped and thats why they got nothing. But man, they screwed over Sweden harder than BRitain this year

It was always going to get a commonwealth aircraft from another nation before that.
The capability difference between the A and C variant will be very minor in a2a combat.
You guys should absolutely have gotten the C variant too, but we are still waiting on more information.
I personally think top tier is 2 stops. So at the moment that is 12 or 12.3. But sub 12.0. (11.3-11.7) isnt. But Still. Gripen A could have been added to sweden any time in the past year
