Bring back armor values on the stat card

pretty sure the entiry community dissagrees with this.

yknow considering the mass ammount of tiktoks. shorts. and videos angry the number got removed lol

Which i personally think is because they lack the knowledge that that number is useless.

If someone don’t know why something got removed, still think that information is useful (when it provably isn’t) and want it to come back then how valuable is that opinion really?

The way more interesting discussion and opinion is the one that goes "i want this back because of reason [xyz] " At least then there is a discussion to be had, if they after gaining knowledge on why it was removed and it’s lack of usefulness still want it back then fair enough, then that’s an opinion they are entitled to.

So, with that said; why do you still want it back after having read all the information in this thread?
In what form do you want it?

the base numbers of the armor let you know what your FP SP and RP is. the angle u can learn after if you want to see the effective, which most the warthunder community has.

i think it should atleast return to early tanks where the number is useful .

however like where someone stated its kinda worthless on mbts due to their ERA,NERA,COMPOSIT,Spall liner and other things unless the snail somehow finds a way to make it work for mbts to?

also suprsied a gamemaster is commenting on my post lol. first time for everything and i feel honored

or gaijin could make it a setting to use legacy stat card for those who prefer it?

How would this information help you?
if you have two tanks say the same mm number but one is structural steel and the other is RHA the actual protection is going to be different even though the numbers are the same.

How do you handle all the vehicles with multiple plates of varying thickness?
Some vehicles don’t have one cohesive plate at the front and have different thickness at different places.

Should the angle the plate is at also be considered?
A flat plate protects less than a angled one of the same thickness and material. The top plate might be differently angled than the bottom plate for example.

Way more reasonable ask imo.

My personal thought was this:

I tend to use the forum a lot, unless we’re talking about bans/chat-bans/etc i’m practically on the same level as any other player :)

this is acutally a good idea

It wasn’t misleading, it just wasn’t meant to be taken as an absolute. The numbers were useful for comparison, especially between variants of the same type of vehicle. There isn’t a way you can show the armor on the statcard to make it useful from a perspective of knowing where to shoot a vehicle, so it’s pointless to act like that’s how it should be used and is why variable thickness/single thickness isn’t a factor.

I made these when they first introduced the changes in the dev server. I still think they should introduce these changes to make the new statcards actually good. Really, the only thing I like about them is that they are better for top tier vehicles and that they allow for multiline names. But in regard to everything else, from how the armor values are pretty much useless outside of top tier and how everything is so unnecessarily scrunched or unnecessarily scrolls, it makes it horrid to actually read.

Though, part of this does come out of my personal bias, since, especially with how scrunched the weapon section is, makes it horrible if you have long names using custom localization. It can take genuinely 20 seconds to actually read the statcards of some ships because I have to wait for the ten different weapon types to finish scrolling to actually see what they are and how many of them there are if I miss the stupid “#x” crap which really should just be locked in place – but luckily that problem, mostly, doesn’t exist for tanks. Mostly, in the sense that it’s lesser.

naval where bluewater ships are so massive that the values don’t really mean much on even a glance

In Naval Arcade these values were actually pretty useful as at a glance I could tell if an enemy ships armour belt was worth trying to penetrate at a distance to go for high damage hits or if I should focus more on hitting weaker areas to do damage.

how would you even summarize the protection of more modern tanks with a single number with ERA, NERA and composites with different protection vs different types of threats?

They already solved this in the April Fools Modern Armour event like this

All they’d need to do is to change the values to be more accurate to the ammo at those BRs
