rather than decompress BR would it be better say if they added ships tonnage to the match make e.g you have a Battle cruiser thats what 16-18000 tons i say it should only see ships that are either between a certain tonnage of its own or close enough to it. What do you think of the idea?
I think you might be able to do that if you also tied it to era. The problem you run into otherwise is you will have something like a Ticonderoga claw cruiser at 9600 tons facing a Southampton class cruiser at 11,500 tons. While similar tonnage, the Southampton would lose 100% of its fights.
im gonna pitch the idea to gaijin as soon as i find the correct section in these forms…these new forms aren’t the best to find thing unlike the old one.
Okay. I’ve been last week trying my IJN Amagi again, and decide to put her on 8.0 with Scharnhorst and Hood.
If she could turn better so able to kite well than now, I’ll consider her superior than Hood and Scharnhorst. But for now, definitely not. She’s much more fragile than those two, and unable to utilize the full strength of 410mm cannons.
Update Storm Warning is here and now we have three more battleship to consider, HMS Rodney, Erstatz Yorck, and Archangelsk. Though it will be not in this list soon as Rodney and Archangelsk is WIP status. And currently the battle is full of British and German only, which will clearly distort the impression and statistics. So rating will be done in the future, maybe in 2025.
Also there are another news that might could bring big change to this suggestion. Developers were knowing that most of AP shell velocity(except for HMS Rodney and French ships) are currently bugged since June 2024, and will be reverted to historical velocity in the future. This will clearly affect ‘every’ capital ships performance as every AP shells’(again, except for Rodney’s and French’s) penetration will decrease about 50 ~ 80 mm at 10 km from now. For example, Hood’s penetration at 10 km was originally 422 mm and Scharnhorst’s was 380 mm at same range.
This is for now. Have a good day and good battle fellows.
Rodney is too unfinished, and too handicapped for top BR imo. Yes she has good armour though it isn’t finished, and yes she has AA, but the guns are not that good for their calibre, also she is vulnerable to HE spam currently, she also has issues with the torpedo’s being not too hard to detonate. Finally the main issue is her absolutely shocking reload with also poor dispersion.
She doesn’t have game presence and she cannot do loads of damage, with fixes and reload buff to 30-35 seconds, i’d say 8.0. Currently? At best 7.7 due to DPM.
I don’t know too much, IRL this is what inspired Hood to a degree, but the layout is not nearly as good. Reload is faster and shells are good enough. I’d say 7.7 is fair, with Barham being there also they are fairly evenly matched probably 7.3.
Arkhangelsk I think is slightly worse than Barham and correct with Bayern due to the choice of the worse shell which is not APCBC, Bayern class will have weaker armour slightly, but better reload and shells are similar, in return Arkhangelsk gets some weak AA. I could see Arkhangelsk also being 7.7 but i’m not sure if she is closer to QE class or Bayern class? I think 7.3 would not be problematic.
I would say though, I think your placement of the Gangut’s is too low and they should be 7.3. Fast reload, punchy shells, very tanky armour scheme even if the armour itself is not good they survive a lot of damage, some AA also and loads of guns.
It is due to Gaijin’s mess with ballistic that Rodney gun’s penetration is not that good for now. In historical velocity which we have before June 1 2024, it is actually Rodney’s gun that have best penetration among all naval guns in games. That’s why I mentioned
Definitely no. Sevastopol class is still Dreadnought. Their gun is too low penetration to match against current ‘top’ BR 7.0 capital ships, and their armour scheme lose its shine as now sharpnel that makes from casemate can damage her boiler room and magazine.
Actually, if ballistic goes historical as it was, I would consider lowering BR of them even more.
Addition of HMS Rodney and Arkhangelsk, Erstatz Yorck complete.
I have to say HMS Rodney is inferior to HMS Hood, cause of her slow reload and flooding problem, so put it in 7.7. But there are clear possibilitty that those two can be fixed(and should), she would be 8.0 at that time.
Arkhangelsk is just HMS Barham with more AA and less auxiliary for now, as she doesn’t have her historical AP. So I put her at same BR with HMS Barham.
Erstatz Yorck has pros and cons compared to Bayern-klasse, same gun/less armor but fast speed. So put her in same BR with Bayern Klasse ships.
Doesn’t seem like Gaijin has seen this suggestion thread…only 3 ships scheduled for BR change, which wont change anything at all!
What a shame!
We have first update of 2025 soon and my god there are massive change that would affect every ship’s BR effectiveness - penetration.
I’ve checked out almost every AP/SAP shell on dev server and omg change was so massive that I may have to change every ship’s list from 6.3 to 8.0
I’ll start to work ASAP since update dropped, and would love your ideas about the ship’s BR near future.
And Gaijin actually did the opposite of decompress lol…
Yeah I figured out.
For capital ships, it’s good change. Some ships needs readjustment, but overall way is okay for me, considering capital ship exclusively.
But now cruiser and destroyer becomes problem. Now they need to lower reserve destroyer BR from 3.3 to 1.0 and decompress BR compression of destroyers and cruisers.
Yeh, its good for the ships that was moved down for sure, just completely backwards to move them down instead of moving others up, as they should’ve done a long time ago, starting with the absolutely gamewrecking piece of s**t Scharnhorst!
I’m making ver.2 of the list based on current BR. Just lots of things needs to be done before that for me.
Good job! We ( the naval community) should all promote it whenever there’s new proposal of BR changes, unless Gaijin surpirses us all and gets their heads out of their asses and figure it out themselves!
Gaijin seems prefer using gun performance to measure the BR, I can’t believe that Gaijin just moved tons of WWI BB to 6.0 and 5.7…
I also wonder, seeing the rank changes for Hyuga, Francesco, PK etc, if they are making room for a new rank soon to come in an update or two!
They almost certainly are. We know that the top-end battleships are coming this year, and they probably will need a new BR/rank to not be completely busted.
Most ships buffed to 6.0 and 5.7 has got their gun characteristic unable to fight against 7.0 bbs so I think this is reasonable. Problem is cruisers and destroyers, and if Gaijin choose not to expand to 8.0 due to Arcade’s CAS circumstances, then it should be lowering cruisers and destroyers’ BR
They almost certainly are. We know that the top-end battleships are coming this year, and they probably will need a new BR/rank to not be completely busted.
Now I’m skeptical about new Rank, though I think new BR definitely comes. Moving Kommuna and Hyuga to Rank V does fit current meta of dividing Rank V and Rank VI, but also makes their three ship line to two so making their final battleship available to be in Rank VI.
