It would be a difficult addition since it cannot carry and payloads, it might make a decent AI gunship in battles, or a single player or custom exclusive, although unlikely, I support it (+1)

This might actually make for a fantastic strike plane in ARB, but the moment a biplane gets near it the tail will fall off. I had to vote no, because it will just end up collecting dust in everyone’s hangars.

Personally I think they should add the YB-29 at 7.0 and add this as a unlockable modification, kind of like the TOG II’s GWP, as the standard YB-29 could only carry 10 .50 Cal MGs total

Aircraft like this, the YB-40, and Bv-222 would be so much fun even if they’re not super effective.
On the tail gun, could it possibly be a 37mm M9 as seen on the P-63? The barrel tip seems to match up and the scale and positioning of the three weapons roughly match the mounts used on the M15 (which used the similar M1). If not, are there even any 30mm cannon in service with the US at the time?

I agree with it most likely being a 37mm gun. I’ve always found the 30mm reference weird because I also have not heard of a US 30mm gun of that time frame.

With all these extra guns and turrets mounted on the aircraft, does it impact the bomb load? Like is it able to carry less bombs due to the added weight, or is it to a point where the extra guns and turrets take up all the space used for bombs? Leaving it as a flying sky fortress without bombs. Or doesn’t the bomb load change and you just get slightly heavier?

US Gunship versions of bombers are strictly just gunships. All the extra guns, ammunition and possibly added armour all replace the bombs. So no this gunship doesn’t carry any bombs.

The one thing i always say while using the b29 is that it could use a single 20mm, the 50cals are good but they dont do enough damage at the distances you want to hit the planes coming at you. Especially when they have 37mm of their own like on the la 200. Plus, having another whole b29 to draw fire and be armed to the teeth that spawns at your alt would be perfect. Me and my buddy already formation fly so one of us in one of these would be a hell of allot fo fun.

If this ever gets added I’m flying this thing like the Project wingman airships instead of actually escorting allied bombers 9 times out of 10.

does anyone know if the additional turrets were aimed by the existing fire control system?
because if not it probably wouldnt be too big of an upgrade IRL, because the existing turrets all automatically led the targets and adjusted for range, parallax, and movement of the bomber
and adding extra turrets that do not benefit from this system wouldnt be too practical
Would be interesting if added hopefully she is capable somehow of carrying some sort of bombs if added. With all the guns and the bomber revolution se would be hard to take down a truly terrifying fortress. Hopefully we get some sort of Gunship ability so this plane could have a role in infantry as fire support bomber gunners would take pot shots at ground targets in real life so in theory the YB-29 could do it.
