wikipedia maybe, thats listed as 15,694kg too
As far as I know, the official figure for the empty weight has not been released to the public, and it’s not feasible to obtain an accurate number at this time.
Indeed, it’s from Wikipedia.
This is the only source I’ve found that provides a different figure for the empty weight. Unfortunately, I can’t confirm its reliability, as I lack other independent sources to verify it. Wikipedia isn’t a trustworthy source either. Maybe I should update the empty weight to reflect a range of estimates (14,500 to 15,700 kg) instead.
14,500 seems more right to me since it’s more in line with strike eagle weight, and I don’t see where it’s getting an extra ton and a half from.
But yeah, updating it wouldn’t hurt
Looking over suggestion again, does USAF use Tiger Eye IRST pod? If not, replace it with LEGION pod since that’s meant for USAF F-15’s.
Also, please remove IRST21 since that is exclusively on Super Hornets.
If you can, add on the GBU-53, GBU-56 LJDAM, GBU-54 LJDAM, AGM-158C LRASM (this one is being integrated now)
Could potentially see it modified with the GE-132 engine in the future. However, due to the acquisition strategy used for the EX program there was not enough time to integrate it in the initial purchase.
USAF F-15EXs do not use the Tiger Eye IRST pod, and you’re correct—I’ve fixed that.
While that’s true, the F-15EX’s Legion pod does include an IRST21 sensor. I’ve revised it to reflect that the Legion pod incorporates this feature.
I’ve also added the AGM-158C with a note that its integration is planned but not yet completed. As for other munitions, I haven’t found any official news confirming their use on the F-15EX (though they are used on the predecessor F-15E). If you’ve seen sources indicating their use on the F-15EX, please share them so I can update the weapons list accordingly.
On a side note, I’ll eventually need to update the history section to keep it current, as much of the information I have is now outdated due to these new details.
Due to F-15EX and F-15E having nearly identical avionics, and UAI integration, as well as the same hardpoints (except for outer wing on EX) I am fairly certain that anything an F-15E can take an F-15EX can also take.
for LJDAM specifically, I made a bug report about them and one of the most important things was that LJDAM can go anywhere a regular JDAM can.
Makes sense, and that’s a valid point. I shall include those on the list.
I’m just now realizing how powerful this aircraft would be in-game… basically a strike eagle but better in every aspect: better flight performance, higher payload, better avionics, better structure… This definitely belongs along 5th gen
Definitely after F-15E. The F-15C will already have the F-22 under it, while the F-15E doesn’t have any real 5th gen successor. The EX retains all the strike capabilities of the E, and is the only aircraft that would actually fit under it. If you try imagining the USA tree with 5th gen fighters, you’ll have F-35A under first line, F-22 under second line, F-35C under third line, F-35B under fourth line and so the F-15EX will fit just right in the fifth line. So yeah I’m all for the EX under the E
well, IRL it goes to replace F-15Cs…
yeah but still it’s basically just a better F-15E, and again it would fit really well under F-15E in the tree for the reasons I mentioned
Imagine an F-15E (potentially lighter) with even stronger engines and an FBW
The F-15EX is actually heavier but the engines are way more powerful so it still maneuvers better and faster
Also you forgot to mention the two additional hardpoints which seem important to me
I was talking flight performance wise. How much heavier would it be tho?
EPAWSSv2 dropped guys
Indeed, it is currently in development and has not yet been flown, however. Here are more details about it:
It seems the changes are focused on both software and hardware, with the most significant improvement being its enhanced processing power. This allows the system to efficiently handle multiple threats simultaneously.
Importantly, it’s noted that the EPAWSSv2 will be available as a retrofit option for most existing F-15 operators.
Yeah, I read this one lol.
There was some talk about later EPAWSS getting towed decoy (such as v2), I think the article touched on that as well if I remember correctly.
This leads me to wonder if they will add v1 or v2 to EX since I feel like by the time they add it v2 will be done.
Maybe they will give it a MAWS finally, who knows
Very nice. Maybe this aircraft will receive even more gimmicks making it even better. Who knows?
well just checked, apparently you were right it’s one and a half ton lighter (empty weight)
lighter structure thanks to composites, so it’s lighter despite more equipments
this thing will definitely be a beast in-game
