BMPT/72 BR Topic

They didn’t buff it mate lets be honest now.

Excuse me? The separation of the belts in the turret was not a buff?

Not really.
Now at least the ammo in the hull blows up! before it wouldn’t

Yeah they nerfed its survivability regarding hits to the ascending part of the ammo inside the vehicle but at the same time separated the 2 belts in the turret so its now impossible to cook off all turret ammo with one shot. Aka a buff and a nerf at the same time.
Its ridiculous enough that the BMPT got released with the damage model as it was then but reworking it and still deliberately adding in unrealistic stuff to artificially buff it is blatant favoritism

It right now, and you know I am one to argue points of the russian MBTs being mediocre or middling.
But the BMPT right now should be flat out removed and reworked completely.
I am sorry but it’s suhc a shambles of an addition, one of the worst I have seen in my time if not the worst.

Russian MBTs really aren’t mediocre or middling. Everyone says they have terrible maneuverability, but then only talks about the reverse being pretty bad. But they have insane maneuverability/handling: they accelerate to their top speed quickly, which, while not the highest in-game, still means they reach certain points on maps faster than most. They also don’t nuke their speed turning like Type 10s or Challengers.

Of course its going to be a terrible addition to play against and balance if Gaijin just flat out masks every weakness the design has with artificial bs.
Memeworthy wobbly autocannons? No comrade laser accuracy on a 550 rpm gun sounds way better
Stupid ammo layout that almost completely negates the advantages of an unmanned turret? Nope magically separated belt with russian quantum tunneling technology

Almost as horrendous as when the 2A5 was first added:

Not a nerf.

Module changes

Nothing changed.

truly it is the destroyer of worlds

this was 7 years ago man, also that was unfinished it was during the dev server

I agree with what you’re saying.
Of course reverse speed is only one metric towards mobility but it is an important one.

Not getting shot in the first place is always better than relying on armour, so having a good reverse speed is really key.

Same with gun depression and reload rate.

The T-90M especially suffers from these drawbacks.

Don’t get me wrong, the T-90Ms and especially not the T-80BVMs aren’t bad, but they’re definitely not great.
@An_Pigeon said it well – they are just mid.

I know. I’m just saying 😅

yeah but ur kinda comparing apples and oranges, if u wanna compare to something that got added and was broken in the live server would be T80U inmortal lfp and breach that got fixed like 3 patches later, or was it the T80BVM? at least the 2A5 came fixed in live server with more normal armor, or the jagdtiger’s side armor, that was wild

That was the 1st Dev Server…

I mean fair enough.

BMPT is probably still a lot more broken than those 😅

i mean tbf for those they fixed them BMPT still has inmortal ammo issues and even more issues still going on rn

They do lose it turning as well mate, the MBTs for russia are not great, middle of the pack round, poor reload, poor depression, poor mobility which I’ve got a lot of kills from T series over extending and being caught out.

They are mediocre, not great, not bad.

Br incrases are literally ners mate.
How can you say it’s not a nerf.

It also quite literally did change how often it dies when ammo is hit internally now compared to when it would literally do nothing before.

Lets be frank here this thing needs to be removed. there’s no real argument to keep it in when it’s current condition is beyond borked.

I mean mate the 2A5 came out and had to be nerfed, the 2a6 the same, the M1 abrams dropped and forced teh MM to be overhauled.

it’s a comparative with older vehicles.
The BMPT is a broken mess no one’s even arguing it isn’t anymore, well bar the most absolute hard core russian mains.

Remember when volumetric was introduced xd two tiny overlappin gplates could stop top tier rounds,

I dont think so actually. The big problem with it is that its damage model is complete bs when its hull down since you need at least 2 shots to either the belts or the 2 breeches to effectively put it out of combat. If Gaijin just made the belts actually realistic and maybe nerfed the autocannon accuracy a bit then i think its fine to stay.
