After the T-80BVM got added. Russia’s winrates never fell below 60% for a year and a half (source unreliable thunderskill). Their winrates even occasionally went to 70%+ and some nearly 80%. Only a month after the addition of newer APFSDS to the Strv 122s and the M1A2 SEP were Russia’s winrates brought down below 60%.
They had the Ka-50/52, Mi-28NM. Back then, Vikhrs could detonate AA missiles without the Vikhrs detonating. MiG-27K was also added 6 months after release of the T-80BVM which then became one of the most powerful fixed wing CAS at the time.
Ka-52 was not OP, it was balanced. SPAA existed with longer range.
Mig-27K didn’t become OP until 2023 when vehicles got CCIP, and even then it just wasn’t ever used because it was trash before then and had that reputation.
Soviet players just didn’t spawn CAS, just like Japanese and French players, and that’s partly why their win rates were high. The other part was skilled play.

It was not about range. Vikhrs could act as APS whilst not detonating itself against AA missiles. You can quite literally joust with any top tier SPAA at the time and win because the Ka-50/52 has 12 Vikhrs but all you need to do is send 1 and that will detonate every single SPAA missile it comes close to without detonating itself.
People mainly used the laser and TV guided weaponry.
Literally Russia was known for the Ka-50/52 spam back then. Before the SP nerf, people were spamming Ka-52 and Mi-28NMs during the start of the match because they get S-13OFs off rip which one shot tanks even if its not a direct hit. Not to mention the Vikhrs spam.
And jousting with SPAA for 5+ minutes means it’s not taking out ground units.
AH-64A can have all 16 of its AGM-114s in the air for monster killstreaks. Easily more spam than Vikhrs while being a better missile.
Yes. There are vids proving this. Drone crashes into the turret from above and the whole thing fully exploded. Its only explainable with the chain reacton down to the magazine. Cause I doubt FPV’s have enought pen to ignite it directly.
