BMPT/72 BR Topic

Not for most MBTs that have autocannons like Leopard 2K or KPz-70.
Some tanks like AMX-32/40 don’t even have their autocannon ammo modelled which is funny.

Because theyre separated from the crew compartment via armor.

That is indeed weird but probably since no coaxial guns have their ammo modeled

They have a hole in the bottom.
Even if we disregard that, there’s like 12mm of RHA separating the ammo from the crew and that can definitely get breached by a round passing though that area.

If 20mm autocannon vehicles can get their ammo modelled, so can half a dozen MBTs in the game that are using it as well.

They actually tried to model it on AMX-32 but forgot about it. From what I can tell, this big box under the autocannon is only modelled on a single AMX tank, which is weird. It’s also found on a vehicle family that undoubtedly has one of the trolliest damage models in the game.

They dont. Its just not on the Xray because its part of the external armor not the internal one. You can see the bottoms if you look at it in the armor tab rather than the Xray one.

Maybe? I havent tested if these armor parts are modeled like the blast doors

Extremely weird but classic Gaijin to model something on one tank and then just forgetting about it completely

It also has 750 rounds which is almost 2x wiesel a4 total ammo amount. Wiesel a4 which explodes if you hit belts attached to gun with mg. 100 or 200 (if we count both right and left belts) rounds produce more damage than 750 rounds somehow. Also dont forget that those 750 rounds are in enclosed space, not outside.

happens to me, in another clip i recorded it happened to me

Gaijin is not consistent on secondary ammo being lethal. M3 Lee and M6 Heavy both have 37mm ammo that will kill them, but 20mm coaxial guns or sub-turrets don’t.

But for BMPT the main weapon is the 30mm pair, the ATGMs are secondary so the 30mm should kill the tank when the ammo is hit.

With how thin the turret armor is, even the ATGMs detonating should also set off the 30mm ammo.

It should though.
If Marder can die from it’s own 20mm rounds, so should tanks like 2K.

It being primary or secondary shouldn’t matter at all.

Well I assume it doesn’t die due to the 12mm RHA plate

Marder doesn’t have any armour protecting the crew from it (unless they forgot to model it):

Rounds can penetrate that plate and tank still doesn’t explode.
Other tanks have a lot more armor on their ammo compartments as well, but that doesn’t save them at all.

it definitvely is, cuz it makes 0 sense, there is more than enough proof to prove this is just an artificial buff and they know damn well it is and that’s the main reason why they choose to ignore the bug reports related to this issue and/or claim that it lacks sources or info

I guess if it penetrates through the front or right side plate then it should cause the vehicle to die.

Well 105mm / 120mm shells exploding sounds a lot more problematic than 20mms shells.

It should, but it doesn’t.

Depends.
500+ 20mm shells exploding near you doesn’t sound like fun to me.
It gets even worse for tanks with coaxial autocannons like AMX series that lack any modelling at all.

750 😅

I mean I don’t really know what would happen if it exploded while the separator between the crew and 20mm ammo is still intact but you could be right that the 12mm RHA plate may not be enough.

When the blow-out panel gets penetrated for sure. The only other time when it doesn’t save them is if the MBT takes a lot of HE / HEAT iirc.

Yeah.

They also decided not to give it its composite in the turret mantlet but it is what it is

9.3 up to 12.7 is ruined. I don’t get the rational behind introducing a practically unkillable vehicle and at the same time the unfortunate that don’t have trying to spade the rest of the new vehicles in the same BRs. It takes literally months of every day playing to spade vehicles like Swatrginf because you have to face terminators almost in every match. And the worst of all is that they introduced a vehicle that you need almost zero talent to get a bunch of kills by bulling the enemy team.

Yeah, but I was mostly focused on the plate being destroyed by round/spall.

i love hoow gaijin add OP no balanced russian vahicles and do nothing or need long time but nato vehicles is to good nerf in one weeks max… bmpt still problem even in toptier!

Here’s some anecdotal, statistically irrelevant evidence from my side.
BMPT spammers and amazing USSR MBTs at ~11.7 folded in mere minutes as they got OHK’d from their sides, with their turrets reaching the space.

TLDR: Just be happy with some smooth brain matches besides majority of competent matches.

I feel like there are 2 tanks that are -maybe- overpowered if everyone play thoses.
So stupid.
Guess what ? 4min in battle already shooting both our spawns.

The session was 7min23 sec.
If russian isn’t steamrolling everything in 10.3+, you clealry don’t play war thunder.
