I have been thinking about how this would be implemented, and I don’t see it being done properly and realistically. The armour on any BMP/BMD/BTR is not thick enough do handle most ERA, so the ERA does the opposite of what it’s supposed to do.
No? Its ERA designed specifically for these sorts of light vehicles. The steel backing plate behind it is enough to make sure it does what its supposed to.
There’s steel plating behind the ERA to prevent it from injuring the crew. The plating is spaced from the vehicles hull. Also, the ERA is quite different than K-1/K-5 and was designed specifically for light vehicles. See the plating here:

That steel plating is structural steel or armor steel?
That’s a lot of ERA for an IFV
It should be structural steel to support the ERA.
Thanks for info.
its mostly metal, ingame itd be no better than kontakt 1(uses the same explosives inserts) and imo it shouldnt be added, as it would be weak, and irl it was basically non functional. i dont know how effective modern karkas with 4s24 implements is, but it should at least work as its seeing some semblance of adoption and usage.
The BMP-3 w/ Karkas-I should be an event vehicle while the BMP-3 w/ Karkas-II should be a Researchable version.
that sounds pretty good to me. tho i definetly would find it annoying as the bmp 3 would become the strongest ifv in the game by virtue of incredibly bad modelling of other ifvs
