Bf109s and FW190s are the worst experience i've had in this game

German props after the g6 dont really keep up, and modt people are probably flying those since thats 5.0+.

Ta 152h is only competitive because it gets an airspawn.

Mineshells should be causing the most structural damage to aircraft at the cost of very poor ballistics.
Which just isn’t the case anymore as realShatter made fragments from all explosive shells deal massive damage to structure.
20mm Minshells are maybe effective up to 400-500m while other 20mm shells can hit targets from 800-1000m.

Idk what Gaijins plan was but they had a fragmentation and blast system before and now blast damage was made irrelevant by how much damage fragments deal to structure.

With the previous system structural damage was petty much determined by the explosive amount and while Mineshells could take out a wing in a single shot, ShVAKs and Hispanos required many hits in comparison.
But at that time 20mm Mineshells also had much better ballistics.

Now Mineshells have the worst ballistics but nothing to make up for that.
The FI-T are still not using realShatter and the IT rounds, which should be very effective, are still trash after 12 years of War Thunder.

A bit overreaction bud, considering how accurately simulated planes are in game.

I made a bug report for MG-151 cannons there damage sucks

I made one around a year ago that was accepted but still is being ignored, hopefully your report can give it more attention.

The issues with 109 and 190, are most likely connected to multiple nerfs of its armament. MG151 and 20mm Mineshells got multinerfed over the last years.

MG151 RoF got a plain nerf.

Mineshells got somehow a reduction of their HE equivalent mass, cause Gajin digged out a late war composition where a part of its HE yield got substituted for incendiaries like magnesium powder.

Mineshells got alot drag added, which nerfed ballistics. Now they are only good as close range shotgun. They just fall out of the sky, while you still score hits with other cannon types.

MIneshells got a nerf @ fuse sensitivity, which makes some enemy planes inert.

The RealShatter changes somehow made the huge HE mass of Mineshells irrelevant, while almost all other shell types got huge amount of fragmentation damage added. High damage cause of high HE mass was the signature feature of Mineshells and MG151.

Mineshells are now even self destructing around 1km. This change was the last straw to officially make them the worst air to air armament ingame.

Now they’re barely usuable. BnZ requires good firepower and good range to pepper enemy planes. MG151 can’t do that anymore. Headons are impossible to win with MG151, lack of range and firepower. When you try to turnfight (you shouldn’t do this, but if …) you quickly notice the bad RoF and low damage. Sometimes enemy planes fly just through your salvos without taking noticable damage (“hit”).

Just test it and use Hispanos or Shvak. Especially the latter ones wreck. With superior trajectory on top. MG151 is totally outclassed. Its especially bad for the 109, since it just has one 20mm cannon, which is now outright horrible. While other nations have much more guns which each superior on top.

I still remember the times as 109 and 190 ruled War Thunder. Mineshells ruled the sky. Nothing is left from these times. Just try the 109k4 with its single nerfed 20mm 151 and two MGs. Its a bad joke vs Corsairs and everything else.

MG151 is not using realshatter, it uses old formula, realshatter INCREASES damage after the bugfixes which is why it feels bad now

skill issue problem

Yes, bad combination when it comes to the old formula.

Was already fixed, the sensitivity is 0.1mm now.

Nope, it doesn’t use realshatter thus cannot be affected by such thing.

But yeah it’s pretty much below any other 20mm while having 3-5x more TNT which makes no sense.
They should buff in the old code or just move it to realshatter already.

Gaijin ignores the bug report:

Community Bug Reporting System

If boils down that almost every nation got a (huge/massive) buff of their damage output whilst the MG 151/20 got nerfed.

What i don’t understand is why almost everybody agrees with that, but just a fraction supports bug reports addressing this topic.

They have 0.1mm fuze delay like most HE rounds.
Not that it ever mattered other than against certain Soviet planes and the Mosquito, which still don’t fuze any HE rounds.

He means that realShatter made other HE rounds deals equal or more damage than Mineshells, thus their greater explosive power become irrelevant.

Their damage is fine, it’s just that they now have the worst ballistics out of any 20mm, while having no advantage for their trade-off.

MG 151/20 IT and FI-T are still useless, despite the FI-T being practically a larger ShVAK FI-T and the IT carrying 8-10g flash powder.
They somehow implemented Hispano SAPI as APHE, despite having literally the same filler as the German IT, while the round somehow explodes on impact with 2mm aircraft dural. So it can’t even penetrate any aircraft armor.

By the amount of things that are wrong with aircraft guns you wouldn’t think WT is already a 13 year old game.

Maybe there are lot’s of players like me…I gave up with this site. Imo the worst service I’ve ever seen. I wrote several reports, they are still open over years and often they close reports for no reason.

D13 is nice, pretty much the best one out of I would say all the 190s. D9 sort of lacks fire power, and the strike ones are quite pathetic.

Honestly, the amount of people that support such a thing may not have the effect we expect.
My report had around 25+ ppl supporting, was accepted but remains ignored for a year.

Meanwhile the klimb afterburner report that absolutely destroyed the 190 Anton’s thermals didn’t even have a valid source and was accepted immediately n implemented to the game. I don’t get it.

I mean you don’t need a degree in Quantum Physics to understand why certain things happen. I am actually tired of certain bias within gaijin.

If you look at prop BRs the whole game play (including BRs and MM settings) is optimized to favor a certain nation whilst all others have to accept disadvantages (in every possible way) just because some folks think the war is not over and their inferior hardware (with 1 or 2 exceptions) needs support what ever it takes.

That’s why you face undertiered planes with rather questionable “stalinum” durability and overperforming cannons - and their average pilots still suck. The policy of ignoring bug reports of potential adversaries (imho an issue of all other nations) is just the cherry on the cake.

Have a good one!
