Vehicles like this could always just get added as squadron vehicles, or just added to the tree though.
I’m thrilled that both these vehicles are getting added, but it’s wild that, for example, we’re getting more unique vehicles for the Italian tree in a single battlepass than we are unique researchable French vehicles in all of the updates of 2026 so far.

Israel got the Eitan, Hunter AFV, and Squadron Mig-21 as non-paywalled additions this year, France got a rank 1 destroyer and a Leopard 1a5.
I’m not claiming that Israel is making out like a bandit, but at least it’s getting somewhat unique content.

All true, and yet it’s still more than a rank I destroyer and a copy-paste German Tank. I commiserate with you on the question of “why the Hunter AFV”, as it’s doesn’t have a line up and just adds to the grind to other IFVs, but it’s still better than getting ANOTHER german tank shoved in the French tree IMO.

Also if you are going to buy the BP it might be worth buying the +150 points one for the extra 500 GE (If you buy the one with out them you wont be able to go back and get it later so if you need to buy levels it will cost more). Of course the clever thing to do is to wait until near the end of the BP to see if you need to buy the levels or not, although you will end up with a lot of boosters to get through in a short period if you do that.

Great and succinct summary of the BPs. Only thing I’d add is that if you’re doing it without buying the extra +150 points then consider sitting on the rental coupon for the mid BP prize until you hit the challenge to earn 20,000 points with a BP vehicle, since you aren’t always guaranteed to have it unlocked by the time that challenge expires.

It amazes me that Gaijin has the audacity to whine about players expecting more in their trees than copy-paste and then adding this vehicle as a battle pass vehicle the very next update instead of as a tech tree vehicle

better to have an excellent tank helping you in your 9.3 line-up that exist than having a mid light tank to your 10.7 line-up that do no exist, believe me getting the 1A5 is far better, i would had celebrate if they had added one of the Greek Leopard 1A5s to help in the 9.3 because i truly want some diversity between the 5 Magachs and the Merkava 1
Fyi the ongoing controversy expressed to Gaijin as “we want more unique paid vehicles”, because of the initial content creators skipping over F-14D, Pucara, Orao, Fw-189 and calling the update a copy paste fest. The said creator uploaded a clarification post, only after Gaijin happily jumped into the false narrative.
Be ready to get more vehicles locked behind paywalls. Scimitar 2 and this are somewhat replacable as IAR is a “free” reward and Scimitar BGTI exists.
The description says that IAR-81C (DB 605) is a Premium Fighter for Italy at Rank III, is it after all a rank 2?
If France didn’t have domestic alternatives at 9.3 that are still missing I might agree, but France has a half dozen designs that could augment the 9.3 line up, including AMX-30C2, AMX-10P TTB140, and AMX-10 RC TML 105 (Late).
Not only does France have domestic designs that fill the same role as the 1A5BE, but it’s simply another in a long line of BeNeLux vehicles that don’t fill a gap in French capabilities.
As long as the host tree is still missing a large number of it’s domestic designs, subtree vehicles should, first and foremost, fill gaps in tree capabilities, and if not that, they aught to at least be unique. If France was going to get another German design put in the tree, it should have at least gotten the MECAR ammo and MEXAS turret set up. This would both make it unique, and push it to 10.0 or so where France has fewer domestic missing designs (though France still has options for that BR range as well).
