BAe Sea Harrier - Technical data and discussion

They already gave it 9X and HMD……

there’s one from 1975, found at the following link.

And also two from 1973 for some reason found on Aviation archive.

Yes, that’s the one that the Devs have but can’t read apparently.

I have a revised version that’s newer and has no parts omitted.

It’s enough to strengthen the SEAM report at least (strengthens the likelihood of SEAM for the AV-8A / -8C), and gives a revision AFC 105 / ECP number (800) which narrows things slightly as to what Block the airframe would have to be at a minimum.

As it appears what is currently modeled arbitrarily uses some elements of the revised & original HUDs.

Do we know if the HUD was similarly revised for any of the UK’s 1st gen Harriers? because I could amend the report further if there was evidence to support it, outside the fact that the GR.3 is “similar” to the AV-8C, and that we apear to have a post '74 built or so AV-8A modeled at minimum.

The AV-8A in game is a 71-72 it’s the first Harriers that the USMC put into play.

The C would be a completed upgrade. I think.

Do you have the C in game? Is so I would like you to see if the LIDS deploys.

Yes.

The LIDS is ?

The lift improved device.

Can you screenshot a frontal picture of it on the runway with the gear down.

I’ll explain more depending on if it has it or not.

Than do it with the airbrake deployed.

Can’t quite get the camera to co-operate

Summary

Is there a big flap on the belly in front of the guns that opens?

Yes.

Coolio.

It’s also now apparent to me that the Sidewinder Seeker direction Pip doesn’t update when tracking a target, like it should (also behaves as if SEAM is implemented, which it isn’t). Also the Boresight reference marker probably shouldn’t be duplicated.

There are actually different HUDs in the AV8 than in the Gr harriers.

As well as different cockpits, not like they even did the Gr.3 cockpit right in the first place.

I would be more specific but I don’t see the point, its not going to be fixed either way.

What functionality are you looking for evidence of?

Iirc only the earliest AV-8As had the moving map display, with all others just having an analog horizontal navigation display

Interestingly is this static cockpit from an AV-8C, with god knows what kind of display where the MMD would’ve been

The presence of the AN/ASA-83 as detailed in the above referenced SEAM report, as the AV-8A is equipt with it and as such may additionally be impacted by it’s prospective implementation

As per the report;

Does that manual make mention of the AIM-9L at all?

Because the people responsible for vehicle balancing in the game believe that Russian military equipment is the most powerful and advanced, and they react very defensively to any facts that contradict that.

No, the 9L was only fitted to Gr.3 as a war time emergency.
