anyone else having trouble landing this girl like shes supposed to? instead of this
How did you even manage to make it back to base?
no, that’s not be getting back to base, thats the result I got from landing
it’s the procedure for landing heavy ww2 bombers but cranked up to 11.
land from behind, wider turn, shalow dives and extra precision to touch down barely past stall speed and at the start of the runway to avoid rolling into a forest.
more like up to 111
its genuinely kind of making me tweak I can land literally anything no problem just not the B52
try the 4.3 G5N1, actual pain to fly because it even has bad agility compared to a B-17.
Should be a nice step towards landing a B-52
sadly I cant not up high enough in the Japan air tree
You gotta land it, as if you kissing your girl, like skipper said
except he didnt say your girl
Can you do the Tu-95? try that… a little easier then the B-52
welp, note to self don’t use airbrakes when trying to land, figured that out when I realized none of the other planes I used have air brakes, so I shouldn’t use the air brakes on B52
Yeah, the airbrakes are VERY effective on the B-52 😂 Most planes that big in War Thunder don’t have airbrakes, it is quite a different experience.
You could/should absolutely pop the air brakes though once you touch down, or JUST slightly above ground if you are daring 😉 Will help prevent you from bouncing 👍
interesting didn’t know that thank you Silent, absolute best man in the WT community
Yw bro 🙂
Yeah, since they are above the wings like that, they might actually be more of “spoilers” than “normal” Air Brakes. There are a couple planes I know off hand that automatically pop up spoilers like that when you touch down, when you have airbrakes turned on. (They do NOT pop up in flight, ONLY after you touch the ground. This is normal in a lot of planes, especially airliners. You can see the spoilers auto pop after wheels touch runway.)
First, the Tornadoes (I think all of them, but I only have the German Premium Tornado IDS WTD61 (Germany) | War Thunder Wiki ) So you can test drive that one and see what I mean. ALSO, fun thing, those Tornados have trust reverses, lots of fun.
The other one with spoilers that I can think of is the Su-24.
To blah blah blah some more, spoilers not only act as airbrakes but they literally “spoil” the lift generated by the wing. That is why you are hitting the ground so hard in the B-52 😂 You are going from a massive wing with huge lift forces, flying “slowly” near ground level, and those big spoilers are negating a huge % of your lift, while you are flying slowly.
In air at “high” speed, the loss or reduction of lift isn’t a big deal, hardly noticeable. But low and slow you are gonna notice the effect a lot lmao.
