It could get JSOWs though…
Hello, i’d like to raise a concern about the current payload balance and progression design between the Tu-95M and the B-52H.
Right now, the Tu-95M starts with only 4×500 kg bombs as its stock loadout. This is extremely limiting:
- It barely allows destroying a single base
- It results in very low RP gain
- The grind becomes unnecessarily slow and frustrating
On the other hand, the B-52H starts with 51×500 lb bombs, which allows:
- Destroying multiple bases in one run
- Earning significantly more RP from the start
- A much smoother and enjoyable stock grind experience
This creates a clear inconsistency both are strategic bombers, both have large payload capacities and yet their stock configurations are drastically different in effectiveness.
This doesn’t seem like a matter of balance, but rather progression design, the B-52H is effective and rewarding from the start and the Tu-95M feels artificially restricted and punishing until modifications are unlocked.
Suggestions:
- Increase the Tu-95M’s stock payload (e.g. more 250/500 kg bombs), or bring both bombers to a more consistent design philosophy.
Anyway thanks for reading.
the tu-95m is a tu-4 with turbo prop
tu 95 have wai better defense…
If we compare the TU4 with the T95, the TU4 1440Kg worth of explosive with its stock loadout, and the TU95 has 1300Kg worth of explosive
Having better defense doesn’t mean you need less bomb to be a good bomber, base on what you said the TU4 should have less bomb then
In War Thunder, the Tu-95M is a Tu-4 with a turboprop engine, and apparently the Tu-95M wasn’t supposed to be a carpet bomber
Saying the Tu-95M is just a Tu-4 with turboprops is a bit too simplified.
It’s still a much more capable aircraft with way higher payload capacity.
Also even if it wasn’t meant to be a carpet bomber IRL, in War Thunder that argument doesn’t really work since planes like the B-52 can already do that.
So the problem here isn’t really about historical role, it’s more about gameplay consistency and progression.
Both should get some air to ground missiles
The choice of the Tu-95M was quite mediocre; a Tu-16 would have been a better choice, not only for its performance but also for its practical use
we curently don’t have the correct variant of each aircraft for this kind of weapon
Unfortunately, only the B52H would have that capability.

Russia gets guided bombs eventually right?
If they did put the TU16 instead of the TU95 then they would’ve had to put a similar bomber on the US side then it would’ve been another story
they allready have guided bombs on other aircraft
i didn’t know that

I think gaijin should move b52 up to 12.0 and and give it agm84 and cruise missiles and move up tu95 and give it kh-55
hahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahhahaahahahah
AIM-120 and r-77 and pl-12
