I think the Australian Army used M7 Priests btw, might be a good add to the tree? Perhaps Rank 2, Br 3.3 ?
I had this discussion with someone just a couple weeks ago, I’ve found nothing to suggest we did use the M7.
+1 I’d love to see more Aussie vehicles!
The Bob Semple is gonna need it’s own BR lol. Maybe 13.0 since it’s so powerful and dangerous…
I don’t think I saw it here, but there’s a video of the ASLAV with the Delco TOW turret firing.
There’s also a second video (seemingly with the launcher folded down.)
Apologies mate, only just seen. Saw a few links to some books, but nothing on the internet I can view/find with concrete evidence of the Aussies using the M7B1 :(
There was nothing in the vehicle registry on the AWM website when I read through it either. If any Australian troops used it, it was probably assisting another nation’s forces. Kinda like how we used British Crusaders in Africa.
No more wondering if the Hawkei NASAMS could work now that we have the official multi vehicle SAM system mechanics in the game.
OK, I’ve added the twin 20mm Polsten 3-ton and the towed Bofors to the suggestion at long last! (crippling depression can really put a stop on progress!)
Now I just got to thinking, if we can have multi vehicle SPAA, there might be some unmanned vehicles that could be used with a control vehicle. Initially I thought of the Supacat 6x6 above but that also has a Javelin which wouldn’t be very fair.
Hawkei NASAM fits perfectly now
Pretty sure that’s a pair of Hispanos and a Bren in a three gun mount.
I do not doubt that is possible. It’s very hard to tell and that is the only photo I’ve come across so far of it. Holden did build Polsten 20mm in Australia though and designed mounts for them. It seems likely it would be a Polsten, but let me know if you find out more. I may have another search around for anything on it myself.
GMH made a lot of stuff, but I’ve seen it before, those guns all have a gas system, the Bren as it is gas operated, and the Hispanos to unlock. The other possible 20mm guns, the Oerlikon and Polsten lack this feature as they’re both pure blowback operation.
I can’t even see the Bren gun on it lol. I’ll change it as soon as I can, which admittedly might be the weekend at this rate. I’ll change the vehicle stats now, the tech tree image will have to wait.
That really isn’t the best quality photo, but the Bren is there centred and above the other two guns. If you look at the gunner’s right shoulder and go straight up you should be able to make out the Bren’s 100 round magazine (or 97? something like that) at the top, the stock is partly hidden by the LHS 20mm magazine, the barrel is just visible above the RHS 20mm barrel.
I’ll see if I can find some better image back again when I remember.
Best I can quickly find, it is about a minute in. I think I’ve seen some photos elsewhere, but the trouble is once you’ve seen one Technical looking thing they all look somewhat similar.
“Best I can find” Literally produces test footage of the vehicle we previously only saw in one photograph.
Great job digging this up 👍
Yeah @MaximumSomething is awesome. I do have to ask now, because maybe I’m blind, but is that definitely a Hispano? Only because I can’t see that gas extraction chamber on the barrel. The video description does label them as Oerlikons.
I am certainly not going to tell you I’m a 20mm auto-cannon expert, but like the Polsten, the Oerlikon has great big springs wrapped around the barrel which these do not have. I imagine there are other 20mm guns that there is a very faint possibility that these could be, but I’m reasonable happy to provisionally ID them as Hispanos. but see for yourself, gas piston and block is on top of the barrel a little more than halfway between the magazine and the forward support, right about where it should be:
(screenshot has been stretched 18.5% to somewhat account for the angle)
AWM photo descriptions aren’t all that great, they used to say Matilda tanks were Australian made.
I looked at that the first time and though it was actually my eyes playing tricks, and that it was part of the centre support, not a gas chamber on the barrel. But I’ll leave it as Hispanos.
I guess you can also see structural rings around the barrel to mount the chamber.
