Hello everyone! This tree wouldn’t have been made without the great help of @GTP_Paulie-psn, so send thanks their way if you must.

Why must Australia and New Zealand be included together?

Australia and New Zealand as geographically close island nations share a seagoing history, with both nations being founded by the British Empire, and as such their respective navies continue to share tradition founded by their shared imperial background and structure. Both nations navies branched off from the Royal Navy during the World War period, however they both operated designs from the United Kingdom, with their own unique modifications. They continue to collaborate to the modern day in the Naval sphere, operating the same class of Frigate, the ANZAC-class.

During the First World War the Australian and New Zealand armies formed the Australia & New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), which has become memorialised in both countries, as a national holiday; ‘ANZAC Day’. This holiday memorialises all that have served in the two nations armed forces.

A single Papua New Guinea vessel is also included, due to the political links to Australia, and because the vessel was built in Australia and given to Papua New Guinea.

History of the RAN and RNZN

Australia first began its independent navy in 1901, with the combination of the multiple colonial navies into a single structure, named the Commonwealth Naval Forces (CNF), this was further pushed along by the Defence Act of 1903. Establishing a command structure for a partially Independent Royal Australian Navy. More specifically it established a force for local defence but that could be capable of forming a fleet unit within the Royal Navy, and within Admiralty control. In 1911 they were granted ‘Royal’ status by King George V, becoming the Royal Australian Navy.

New Zealand similarly had ideas for local defense, and by 1913 they had reached and agreement with the Admiralty, under the Naval defence act 1913. Such that a ‘New Zealand division’ within the Royal Navy itself was created. This remained so until the 1st of October 1941, where the Royal New Zealand Navy was formed in recognition that the force was mostly self-sufficient and independent by that time.

The Tree.

The tree is separated into three main lines, Corvettes & Minesweepers, Motor Launches, and Auxiliary, they have a BR span from 1.0-4.0 and include ranks 1-5. The BRs for each vessel have been arranged to the best of my ability, but they are mostly used to direct the flow of the tree. There are 42 Australian and New Zealand vessels in the tree and premium lines, as explained above. Not all vessels in this tree did carry the ‘HMAS’ or ‘HMNZS’ moniker, however they have been added for clarity with the vessels operator. For example the ‘HMAS Clive Steeele’ as it is in the tree, wasn’t a commissioned RAN vessel, and as such did not carry the ‘HMAS’, instead it carried ‘Australian Landing Ship’, as it was an army vessel.

This tree does include some classes which are already present in game, notably the Attack and Fremantle classes of patrol boat. These were implemented into the tree because they were an important part of Australian coastal patrol duties, and as such should be represented in a ANZAC coastal tree, where ever that may be.

However this tree does not include (1) vessel operated by the RNZN that could be added to this tree, as it is already present in game, this being the HMNZS Blackpool, present in game as the HMS Blackpool. This is as per Gaijin’s naval addition rule that a vessel can only be represented in game once, no matter if It is in a different tree or representing a different nation.

Why a sub-tree?

As it stands, both ANZAC Nations did not operate some of the most important types of vehicles in other trees at all, most notably there are no torpedo craft whatsoever. This leaves us with lots of gaps where such a vehicle would be useful.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading the suggestion, this Isn’t supposed to be the ‘definitive’ version of ANZAC Coastal forces, so please feel free to leave suggestions or corrections to the tree or BRs.

Most of the light craft featured in this suggestion are very hard to find details about so If you know some sources or information not listed, please DM me or comment them, I would love to know more about their service history.

+1 plenty of cool boats (and landing ships!)

+1 as I’ve said on the other ANZAC trees, I have two hopes.

Short term: as part of the UK tree.

Long term: part of a Canadian tech-tree. Well their help would be felt most else where this would be nice as well.

Apparently I can’t vote yes 500 times, but I voted yes the 1 time I am allowed.
And it would go very nicely with a Canadian tech tree, as Canada has the fast torpedo boats that the ANZACs didn’t really seem to use.

You forgor the aussie vehicles already added.

The Attack class and Fremantle class of patrol boats are represented in this tree, by HMAS Acute, and HMAS Gladstone respectively.

Already working on one now :)

The tree has been purposely left at roughly the technological stage of War Thunder as it currently is in game, however I just wanted to post a couple mentions of some later vessel types that would be available.
First, the later River-class was fitted with Seacat missiles. This could almost be in game right now, as there are other vessels with similar or better missiles.

Both Australia and New Zealand currently operate ANZAC class frigates, with vertical launch missile systems, a helicopter, and guns, there are quite a few differences over various refits and between Australian and New Zealand service.

Another neat little boat recently made by The Whiskey Project is the Whiskey Bravo Strike. 8x Spike NLOS launcher and a stabilized .50cal mini-typhoon. No idea how it’d fit BR wise, but it’s certainly interesting.
