Xavante - AT-26 | EMBRAER/AERMACCHI - MUSAL

Description: The AT-26 Xavante was the Brazilian-licensed production variant of the Italian MB 326 GC. In the 1950s, various air forces were projecting and building various trainer aircraft, and Italy did the same. The MB326 was projected by the engineer Ermanno Bazzocchi to give the Italian Air Force a new trainer aircraft that could also be used as a ground attack. After various changes to the starting project requested by the Aereonautica Militare, the two prototypes in 1956 were started, and the first one flew for the first time at Lonate di Pozzolo on December 10, 1957, with the pilot Guido Carestiato. It was produced in a very large number of variants and exported to a lot of countries. After Italy, Brazil was the main customer for the aircraft. In 1970, two prototypes plus 166 aircraft were ordered. The variant selected was the MB326GC, renamed AT-26 Xavante in the Brazilian service. They were produced under license by the company Enbraer. The first prototype made by Enbraer, the FAB 4462, flew for the first time on September 3, 1971. With these numbers Brazil saw the opportunity for some exports; 6 units went to Togo and 10 units went to Paraguay. This production under license and other collaborations will lead in the future to the AMX prototype. After this massive production line, after the Falkland War, Brazil helped Argentina reform the 1 escuadrilla se ataque by selling them 11 AT-26X to replace the previous losses. The aircraft were mainly used for training and ground attack, and the last units were decommissioned in 2010.

Why it should be in the game: It will be a very good addition as a premium/event/squadron since the Italian TT is lacking of CAS
