Argentine Helicopter Tech Tree

Today I want to suggest the Argentine Tech Tree for helicopters, this tree could be a nice addition together with ground, naval and air forces, it mainly consists on Helicopters used by the Argentine Air force (Bell 212, Hughes 500, etc.) Argentine Navy (Alouette III, Lynx, Sea King) and Argentine Army (UH-1H and A.109 Hirundo)

A detailed info about The Helicopters:

Hughes 500 “Avispa”

Spoiler

A small observation and light attack helicopter of the Argentine Air Force, often used for SAR missions, very similar in characteristics to the AH-6M already in game, but lacking any guided missiles (there was a rumor that they were tested with the Martin Pescador missile but nothing was found).

General Characteristics:
Crew: 1-2
Length: 9.4 m
Rotor diameter: 8.03 m
Height: 2.48 m
Empty weight: 493 kg
Max. takeoff weight: 1,157 kg

Armament:
The helicopter has 2 supports where it carries:

x2 .50 Cal (or 12.7) machine guns
&
x2 FFAR rocket pods (x7 40mm rockets each)
Or
x4 Mamboreta Rocket pods (x6 57mm rockets each)

UH-1H (And UH-1H “mod”)

Spoiler

The workhorse of the Argentine Army aviation and probably the most used helicopter in the armed forces (since at some point also the navy and Air force had their own UH-1Hs). Like a few of the ones in game, this helicopter lacks ATGMs (at least in the early configuration, the “UH-1H mod” receives access to the Martin Pescador Guided missile)
General Characteristics:
Crew: 2
Capacity: 1,760 kg
Length: 17.40 m
Width: 2.62 m
Height: 4.39 m
Empty weight: 2,365 kg
Gross weight: 4,100 kg
Max takeoff weight: 4,309 kg
Powerplant: 1 × Lycoming T53-L-13 turboshaft, 1400 Hp (1.044kw)
Main rotor diameter: 14.7 m
Maximum speed: 238 km/h
Cruise speed: 209 km/h

Service ceiling: 5,910 m
Rate of climb: 9.2 m/s

Armament:
When it comes to armament the UH-1H has many options:
x2 7.62 Machine gun pods (one on each support)
Rocket pods: Varying on rockets and models of pods
*FFAR (70mm)
*Albatross (Argentine version of the FFAR)
*Pampero (105mm)

The later “mod” Huey will have access to the Martin Pescador guided missile (very similar to the US AGM-12)

Missile Data
Length: 2,95 m
Diameter: 0,21 m
Wingspan: 0,73 m
Weight: 140 Kg
Warhead: 40 Kg
Max Speed: 2.3 Mach
Range: 4500 m (limited by wire)

Bell 212

Spoiler

Much like the Huey for the Argentine Army, the Bell 212 was the preferred multi task helicopter for the Air Force, itself is pretty similar to the Huey, although its armament is a bit limited compared to the Huey.
General Characteristics:
Crew: 2
Capacity: 1,760 kg
Length: 12,70 m
Width: 2.62 m
Height: 4,40 m
Empty weight: 2,786 kg
Max takeoff weight: 5,080 kg
Powerplant: 1× Partt & Whitney Canada PT6T-3D with 1.342 Kw (1.800hp))
Main rotor diameter: 14.7 m
Maximum speed: 230 km/h
Cruise speed: 208 km/h
Range: 450 km
Service ceiling: 5,300 m
Rate of climb: 8,9 m/s

Armament:

Up to x4 7.62 machine guns (forward facing)
Rocket pods: Varying on rockets and models of pods
x2 LAU-68 rocket pods (FFAR)
x2 LAU-7 Rocket pods (FFAR)
x2 or x4 Mamboreta rocket pods (ASPID 57mm)

A.109 “Hirundo”

Spoiler

Even if its also a multi role helicopter, it also served more as a “gunship type” while serving with the Argentine Army aviation given its better performance and better armament compared to the Huey, this will be our first helicopter to actually have ATGMs (in the form of the Mathogo).
General Characteristics:

Crew: 2
Length: 11.448 m
Height: 3.50 m
Empty weight: 1,590 kg
Max takeoff weight: 2,850 kg
Powerplant: 2 × Allison 250-C20-B
Maximum speed: 311 km/h
Cruise speed: 285 km/h
Never exceed speed: 311 km/h
Rate of climb: 9.8 m/s

Armament:
Much like the Huey, the Hirundo has access to much of the same rockets and pods, with the exception of the Mathogo ATGM.
x2 7.62 Machine gun pods
Rocket pods: Varying on rockets and models of pods
*FFAR (70mm)
*Albatross (Argentine version of the FFAR)
*Pampero (105mm)
x4 Mathogo ATGMs (its a development that’s close to the Swedish BANTAM)

Alouette III (S-31)

Spoiler

Much like the others mentioned before, the Alouette was used by the navy for a variety of roles, this gave it a pretty decent array of armaments, including missiles, torpedoes and even depth charges!
General characteristics:
Crew: 3
Length: 10.03 m
Height: 3 m
Empty weight: 1,143 kg
Gross weight: 2,200 kg
Powerplant: 1 × Turbomeca Artouste IIIB turboshaft
Main rotor diameter: 11.02 m
Maximum speed: 210 km/h at sea level
Cruise speed: 185 km/h
Range: 540 km
Service ceiling: 3,200 m
Rate of climb: 4.3 m/s

Armament:
Up to x4 7.62 machine guns (forward facing in pods)
Or a singular MG151 cannon (forward facing)
Rocket pods: Varying on rockets and models of pods
x2 LAU-32 rocket pods (FFAR or Albatross)
Missiles
x2 SS.11s
x2 SS.12s
Other:
x2 SST-4 torpedos
x2 ASA depth charges

S58 should be tech tree IMO. We don’t have enough TT versions of either variant of that heli.

I havent found much info about it, and armament seems very limited (depth charges and maybe a door cannon) the heli is copied from the older suggestion, but i find it very lacking compared to what we have in game.

+1, it would be great to see these helicopters in the game

+1, I feel like these have a place

The “Martin Pescador” missile is radio-controlled, and its guided range was 9 km and I seem to remember that the ballistic range was 15 or 17 km. It was never guided by wire, and was successfully tested on the UH-1H, but was not put into service. In the game it could be implemented in the same way, looking at other cases. The missile did enter service on the MB 326 of the Argentine Navy.

I hope they add these helicopters and Argentine weaponry.

As far as my research went, the MP-1000 fired from the huey was a special one modified to be wire guided. If you happen to have other info that prooves it was not, ill gladly appreciate that you share it. Thanks !

It seems that the cable-guided version existed, according to people who participated in the project, in the Zona Militar forum.
It was a necessary adaptation for helicopters due to their use in stationary mode. Having a very low initial speed, because the vehicle is static, it is necessary for the missile to have a higher exit speed, which resulted in the missile being exhausted sooner, having a shorter travel distance. In any case, it is not easy to get information about this.
I suppose there is no reliable data to confirm phyloguiding either.

I read some things on that Forum too, but there is also a user there who worked on the project and he mentions that there were never several versions, only one until the arrival of the AS-25K. Unfortunately, there is too little info to use as a reliable source.

I would say no to a dedicated Argentinian helicopter tree, since it will not be good enough for a standalone tech tree and it lacks more potent, modern attack helicopters that could fit in-game.

But some of these helis could fit in another nations as a sub-tree, i.e. Germany (since TAM and other vehicles already exist there and were used by Argentina).
