Are the Gripens obsolete in the current meta?

It’s alright its just not the Meta anymore, the vehicle specialized in those furball IR slinging matches but since top tier is a clusterfuck of ARH slinging the gripens dont get to use their main attribute, the smaller missile load also doesnt help. Its more a problem of changing meta. I think their fine for now but by the time we see EFT and such the C will be majorly outclassed.

Obsolete? No. The best? Not anymore.

Thankfully Gripen NG (which is a prototype of E) and Gripen E will solve majority of its problems.

r u joking right?

Honestly gaijin is pretty bad at not powercreeping swedish air so we probably wont see the NG sorry to burst that bubble.

I mean otherwise the A wpuldve been here when the F16’s were.

We can only hope, but one thing for sure that we will see JAS39E sooner or later.

What’s there to joke about?

Oh no! Anyway…
Seriously Grippen is just F16C on crack. Grippen’s flight model is massively better than everything else for the exchange of 2 AIM9M for AIM120 oh wow such bad plane reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Oh also let’s just completely forget that Grippen has like 800CM while F16C has measly 60

So in your eyes the AIM-9M is on the level of an AIM-120? What are you smoking?

Yes the Gripen has an infinite amount of CM but if we’re being real, Chaff has practically no effect on AMRAAMS so I really don’t see how having that much chaff can be useful against them

Depends if SA Gripen is not that good but HU and SWE Gripen C yep it pretty good (because they use AMRAAM)

The Gripen NGs abilities are of last resort. It is cool that it has an AESA radar designed to be able to watch Russia while not flying towards it. But modern fighters are built for BVR, and dog fighting is a last resort measure. If you are close enough to dog fight, then you really messed up when it comes to the current age of aerial combat. Gripen is very limited in this role.

I would love to see the G-NG in game, but realistically its going to be at a disadvantage when we get to that point. F15EX with 22 AAMs. F22A with 14 Aim-260s + 2 Aim-9X BII. vs the Gripen NG with 6 x BVR is a tough fight.

I guess i we can also throw balance out the window with this post

Though since it america they can definitely cry enough to get these types of BR’s /s

Gripen NG is the last in the line. Thats it, cannot go any higher. The F15EX is last in the line, that is it. Cannot go any higher. The F22A is the last purpose built fighter in the line, unless they plan to give us the X-47B & F/A XX. So the Gripen NG being same BR as the F15EX and F22A makes sense.

Meanwhile, me seeing a Gripen in my EJ Kai

Forgetting Gripen E ?

Laat in line doesnt mean anything for balance, italy didnt play at top tier for a whioe because their hughest was the starfighter at 10.7 for a long time until they finally got a 12.0, my post was on balance not on this made up form youve come up with. Gaijin will put vehicles in the end of a line at the br where they play the best. So most US vehicles could probably be an entire br below where they are lmao. On a serious note we are still fairly far off from getting that as gaijin would need to be testing stealth coatings and such for radar. Regardless this isn’t the post to talk about this so lets drop this pointless discussion here and if you wish to continue please either create a chat or message me.

America cope is real

are you telling me that one(1) nation having all the fox3s is bad for the game?

No one forgot the Gripen E. I just don’t think its going to be any kind of meta unless they down tier it to seal club. It isn’t a heavy BVR hitter which is the endgame. It has 1/3rd the BVR abilities of the likes of the F15EX. Don’t need to dog fight, if you never let it close enough to matter.
